Off-Canon Twelfth Doctor photoshoot

Feb 22, 2012 15:02

I was going to avoid posting this here since it's a cosplay comm and not really about original costumes, but good comments on the costume from events where I've worn it and these pictures posted to on tumblr convinced me that it would be okay to show them here.

Photos were taken by my husband during the one and only snowstorm we've had in St. Louis ( Read more... )

Those are delightful photos. Perhaps Mary's wondrous bag is a product of Time Lord technology!

The Bag of Holding from D&D has got to be inspired by her carpetbag. ;)

Thank you, and yes, I was thinking the same thing! That and Willy Wonka's Chocolate Room.

I love this! So original and yet so true to previous Doctors and the spirit of the series. Plus, you just look fabulous.

Thank you so much for sharing. This is so cool!

Alt versions are certainly welcomed here! :) (I'm a mod, so it really is okay.) I esp. adore the Tardis scarf. :)

I always figured James Bond (from the films) and many of the other film cast to be Time Lords (not to mention soap opera characters), but it was only the other day that I suddenly realized that Mary Poppins (again from the movie) might be a Time Lord. Either that, or she's a wizard or an elf. :) At any rate, nice to see that others think similarly about Mary. :)

!!! You're from St. Louis! I moved last year otherwise we could totally have adventures. And you're the only Nerd Like Me I've come across from St. Louis that I don't already know. Sigh...

I'm surprised I didn't meet you. I've been heavily involved in all things fandom since I moved here almost eight years ago. I've gone to Archon every year and run conventions of my own. What sorts of costuming did you do when you lived here?

You and Mr Slythgeek look pretty familiar, actually. I'm sure we've run into each other at something appropriately nerdy. And my cosplaying was done mostly abroad, sadly. I did a lot of stuff in Chicago and not much at home and didn't really do the local con scene mostly because...well, you know how tangly things can get in StL and then I started a "career" as a nerd journalist and it got less fun, anyway, when all the sewing was done. Which con do you run?

We run Kawa Kon. We ran Anime St. Louis for the first two until we had a split with them over artistic differences (basically, I felt many of them didn't want to do much work, but they all wanted to have an opinion... the usual). We also ran Bishie Con for three years (yaoi and slash convention), but it was too much work to sustain once Kawa Kon became too big. Lately, we've been shifting our convention from anime-focused to multi-fandom-focused with a definite yearly theme and theme tracks. It's helped with my flagging enthusiasm for the con because I was never as interested in anime as I should have been running anime conventions (I got into it accientally, actually ( ... )
