Thanks to
chainofclovers,
kitnkabootle, and others who have had a bad influence on me, I spent about six solid hours tonight watching Angels in America. There is a lot going on in that miniseries but, reduced to its most juvenile and self-interested point, it has Meryl Streep playing a character with short, silver hair. You can probably see where I'm going with this

You just cut straight to the important things. :)
(Those last two photos are the reason I maintain Meryl did SOMETHING INVOLVING VOODOO in DWP, because she seriously does not look exactly like Meryl Streep, beyond the change in hair.)

But really, yes... Morman Meryl. What I loved was how there was hints at her underlying lesbian sexuality that she refused to acknowledge in her self, let alone her son. And then to have the angel bring it out in her and let her orgasm to her inner beauty. Perrfection.
I've said it once and I'll say it again - if you get the soundtrack to Angels in America you'll blush whenever Plasma Orgasmata plays. Cause you know who's plasma orgasmataing at that part ;)
Please answer me this -> did it inspire a fic?

I don't think so. My fic engine seems to be temporarily stalled. I'm kinda tired. I have hopes it will rev up again soon, though :)
As to the rest, I agree; I think it was wonderful that the miniseries acknowledged the power of physical pleasure not only to rule our appetites, but to engage us with the world and open our hearts. I'm glad Hannah got her orgasm. It might well have been her first.

Be honest - did you realize that she was also the rabbi at the beginning of the movie? (No points if you already knew...) I didn't even pick up on it the first time I saw it - that's how good she is.

Ha! So I wasn't alone being consumed by these thoughts at the first viewing of AiA. I'm so relieved. :)
It really is an astonishing piece of work. So much going on. Having seen the play years ago, I have to say I think it's even better as a mini-series, the expansion really worked for me. I tried to watch it again with a friend recently, but she begged me to turn it off after an hour. It really isn't for everyone.
