I have been taken to task for slighting the Great State of Louisiana by portraying a corrupt and truly nasty piece of work Senator as from that state in my Beyond the Call story. ( Read more )
You can't please everyone Du! It's great that your story is stirring up the emotion of your readers, but don't let the constructive feedback hamper your creative juices.
My words will not change farther than you change them in the editing process. My intent here was to say to a reader who comments and who I respect and look forward to hearing from that I was sorry I had made them feel uncomfortable. A recognition of their feelings, however momentary, and to try to address this on a larger scale with the Community. I'm a believer that for every complaint you get there are ten out their you never hear.
My Muse is driving this story and it's going to go where it goes.
The person that commented indeed knows the history of their state. And had I been a little more sensitive I might well have considered that Louisiana has had Katrina and now is looking at their Gulf Coast destroyed by the BP debacle. There were half a dozen ways I could have made my S.O.B. Senator from someplace else. My Reader spoke up in defense of someplace they are proud of. I wish to hell I felt that way about my state.
Ditto to what everyone else has said. Please don't let one comment get into your head or your muse's. You are weaving a wonderful, intricate, complex story and I am excited everytime I see your post. Looking forward to the next one! Thank you in advance, your humble reader, flyhi.
My story will not change, my Muse wouldn't have it. More to post soon and my Muse tells me that there is another story is on the horizon. As I said in earlier comments, my intent was to address my reader's feelings and to apologize for making them uncomfortable, if even momentarily.
