I have been taken to task for slighting the Great State of Louisiana by portraying a corrupt and truly nasty piece of work Senator as from that state in my Beyond the Call story. The respondent pointed out that in the top 15 crooked politicos from a list they found Louisiana did not appear once. I should like to apologize to any that might be offended by what has apparently been perceived as an unwarranted attack on the state of Louisiana. As I explained in my reply to the respondent, Louisiana was chosen solely because when the character of DeSaix sprang from my Muse she was born with the sound of the sweet accent from that region of the country on her lips. IMOHO, the sexiest accent in the country. The Senator's character followed and because I wanted him to have been a State Senator when he had an affair with DeSaix's mother I made him from Louisiana too. I have no idea if Louisiana politics are corrupt in the real world when I wrote the story and to be truthful, with my personal disdain for the the political system in the U.S. and all the crooked bastards in it at every level of Government over the last several decades, I hadn't even considered the possibility that I might offend some people by making my crooked politico from a particular state. Again, my apologies to any and all I might have offended. This was certainly not my intention.
