Let's pretend for a moment that i have a lot of time to read, in between my 8-to-5 and my after-hours freelance writing and blogging projects, and I can actually squeeze in a lot of reading time. (I think I mentioned somewhere before that I download e-books FASTER than I can actually read them. And I have 1.02GB worth of ebooks waiting to be read ( Read more... )

i like your criteria. Wait for my YA book, then. LOL It's kinda hard to find YA books with your criteria, though. Or have I been walking past the YA aisle for too long? Have you considered Filipino YA author?

Haha! Another friend went, 'Then you're not looking for YA or NA books then' while rolling her eyes when she saw my three criteria.

HURRY WITH YOUR YA BOOK THEN!

Are there any? I'm not familiar, except those from Summit books, which I don't really think much of.

Definitely anything John Green but I would highly recommend The Fault In Our Stars, Paper Towns, his collab with David Levithan (another one to check out) called Will Grayson, Will Grayson. Oh, read Every Day by David Levithan. Also check out Why We Broke up from... I forgot the author. hehe

As you can see I'm a sucker for the genre. :P Oh, and I like the title of this post and I will check out those books. And read The Fault In Our Stars before the movie comes out next year. It definitely has angst as the protagonists both have cancer. Hehe (Not that cancer is something to laugh at, it's more that I think it fits your criteria to a T.)

.... I seriously need to reorganize that downloads folder and rank them according to priority. I think I've downloaded all of John Green's books, and The Fault in our Stars has always been highly recommended by friends, so will do! Thanks for the recs! :)

BTW, these are not considered YA anymore due to sexual and/or violence content. They're called "New Adult"

And hey, 50 Shades is too raunchy to be YA! It's Mommy Porn! lol

Seriously, sometimes, the lines are blurred between these genres AND erotica, methinks. So what categorizes YA from NA is the sexual content? *rolls eyes* I wonder if there's "OLD ADULT" anywhere.

Because they're supposed to be 18+. Ya know, must protect the minors.

The "Old Adults" are of course the usual Romance and Erotica genres. The lines are blurry between these 2 sometimes (with 50 Shades becoming mainstream and all), but it seems to me that to be called Erotica these days must involve some sort of bondage and menage LOL

I noticed that too, that erotica is equated with having BDSM elements to it.

Well, I think, many of these novels call themselves a certain genre but crosses lines anyway, so I'll just lump them all into the Adult category. LOL. Less headache that way~
