Full day. Went to Day One of the Small Press Expo in Bethesda. It's a convention for indie comic creators. Spent a crapload of money on books. (I'll post a list tomorrow. Maybe.) Just when I'd seen every booth three times and decided to leave while I still had $20 in my wallet, I saw Danielle Corsetto's (Girls with Slingshots) booth. (Was it you, ( Read more... )

the con sounds like loads of fun :) indie work can sometimes be weird and/or downright dreadful but, a lot of the time, it's far and away better than what more mainstream outlets produce

sounds like a great day! :) except for the not-great acting but sometimes that's just the way of the world *hug*

I'm a big fan of GWS and have the book, so yeah, it's a good chance that I'm guilty of your once-upon-a-time sleepless night/discovery of the strip. ;p Am jealous that you got to meet Danielle Corsetto ... she has a rep for being an extra-cool person.

Looking forward to seeing your loot list. Which reminds me ... couldn't find "Phonogram: The Singles Club" last time I was in the comics shop (just an empty space where the issues should have been, which means they're selling out as fast as they get stock, as the staff continuously refill the shelves all day). But, thanks to your recommendation, I do have a copy of "Phonogram: Rue Britannia" on order from Chapters-Indigo and am looking forward to reading it (somehow that company every once in a while gets a supply of titles that are long out-of-print/unavailable everywhere else ... love 'em for that) :D

I have an extra copy of Rue Britannia if your order copy doesn't come soon enough. I'm also willing to lend you my copies of The Singles Club, if you're interested.

Thankee for the kind offer, but got the in-shipment email for Rue Britannia today! Yay! That's what I love about Chapters-Indigo ... unlike Amazon, when they have something listed they really can get their hands on it. :-)

I shall probably be negotiating a loan of your The Singles Club issues in the near future ... I've a preference for owning books over magazines anyway, and it'll be a while before a bound version of that comes out. If there's anything in my collection (listed in LibraryThing under "jlsjlsjls" and on my own webpage here) that you'd like to try, do let me know. :-)

Sounds like a plan! I do love the idea of an international interlibrary loan! And the offer to browse your collection is just as exciting. :)
