I do not like iTunes 9.  I wouldn't have it but I wanted to buy last night's season finale of Leverage and the program forced me to upgrade before I could complete the purchase. Nothing's where it used to be in the last few versions of iTunes. I'm getting old and curmudgeon-ly and I don't want to re-learn the whole darn interface just to download a ( Read more... )

Yup, they're getting way too complacent. Also I just hate having unnecessary "upgrades" shoved down my throat...

They are getting complacent. I'm sure they know it. But I'm also sure they don't care. Outside of iPhones and iPods, Mac hardware only has about 9 or 10 percent market share. Maybe they're happy with that. Maybe they never want to be on the same level as Microsoft. And they never will if they keep bleeding their customers dry.

I don't understand where all the Apple fanboys are coming from in thinking it's so superior to what Microsoft turns out. I know a couple of computer industry workers and none of them have anything good to say about Apple/Mac products. I don't even try to think about these things unless they effect me directly. I like sticking to what works and that includes the fact that I use a DOS emulator to get things done that Windows won't let me...

I don't think one is better than the other. I've used Windows most of my life and just switched to a Mac two years ago. Some things are easier (e.g., iPod to iTunes synching) but there are limitations, too (no Google Chrome for Mac). But these constant and costly updates get annoying.
