Forever is a long long time when you've lost your way.
I just got completely ripped off for beer, and then I realized it was for $1.50. Nothing to me in the scheme of things, and probably better off in her hands anyway.
Vietnam has been exactly what I needed after Cambodia. Saigon still has my heart, but each city I've been to here has a different feel to it. Hanoi is all that is left, and I feel like ( Read more... ) -

It really does seem that everything happens for a reason.
I'll be honest. Ever since Angkor Wat I have been in a slump. The sickness didn't help at all, and neither did my dislike of Cambodia in general. I went to new places, only to find myself still not where I wanted to be.

I won't be leaving Cambodia tomorrow, and somehow I'm not upset at all. That is the good thing about not having a plan; when things change I just adapt.

The new year has snuck up on me. I was in transit for Christmas, so it was just another day for me. Now, tomorrow is New Year's Eve. I'll be in Luang Prabang, Laos. I debated Vang Vieng with the group I had met here, but staying here feels right.
2013 was the biggest year of my life, thinking about it.

Do you know where your heart is?
It is actually kind of hard to write about the past few weeks, just because of how much has happened. I am keeping a written journal and rereading some of it, it feels like a lifetime ago and it was just 2-3 weeks.
I'll talk about Pai, because it has been the best part so far.

I have never been happier than I have been here in Pai. I never knew how easy happiness can come from the simplest things. This place will stay with me, and I did not expect that.

Believe it or not, it's all that we can give.
So, the fear never came. Nothing on the plane, nothing on landing other than excitement. Getting here was much more difficult than actually being here, even with those protests being just down the street.
