Drove my Chevy to the levy

American Pie was a favorite of late night guitar sing-alongs of my youth, second in popularity perhaps only to Hotel California. Not only is it a good tune, but the enegmatic lyrics sparked much speculation about what it actually meant.

Cool... I like how they point out the various references. Though they missed some, like "the jester in a cast" referenced Dylan's motorcycle accident.

If I remember right, I learned a lot of this stuff from "Buddy Holly Is Alive and Well on Ganymede".

I was thinking that "jester in a cast" was missing some commentary.

Heh. Actually, come to think of it, I've been getting small doses of the style of writing in that book in some of the Escape Pod stories. Perhaps I'll aquire the taste, and try "Buddy Holly" again sometime.

I love that song, actually the whole album.
I've read some interpretations of the song before. Its pretty interesting, especially for such a long song.
