It's been a relaxing long Presidents Day weekend. Saturday we relaxed and ended the day by watching Notes On A Scandal, which I looved! There's some phenomenal acting by both Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench. I adore Judi Dench anyway. I would be utterly star struck if I ever met her. I only have a little bit of Anusara experience, but I *really* like it.

I'm a bit of a yogi-of-convenience -- I practice whatever style is taught by the teacher who is convenient (which is usually hatha) but I'd like to get some more exposure to Anusara.

I didn't realize it's such a new tradition, but that's fine with me. If I wanted to work in a thousands-of-years-old tradition I'd be a witch Christian... ;)

I really enjoyed the video. It wasn’t too strenuous, but also included a couple of poses that most videos don’t, like fish pose and seated side bend. It doesn't bother me that it's a newer school. Most yoga DVD's out there are some variation of Iyengar, vinyasa, or power yoga anyway, which are newer variants on either traditional hatha yoga or ashtanga. I have found a couple of traditional hatha yoga DVD's that are currently on my Netflix queue that I'm also looking forward to trying.

I like trying out different styles of yoga anyway, as I find myself getting bored with one style, and the various styles and teachers focus on different poses that target different muscle groups, which I feel makes for a more well-rounded practice. I used to really enjoy the yoga class I took at California Fitness, but the gym fee was a bit much.
