I got back from New York City last Friday night. The lights went out on the second to last day of the belly dance workshop, on the evening that we were to dance and eat at a local restaurant. I was putting on my makeup when the lights went out. At least I looked good ( Read more... )

Wow! I had completely forgotten you were in NY then. It actually sounds like your experience was *almost* fun. No power outages in Boston, just a realization of how much our society depends on that electricity stuff. :)

It sure did remind me how electonisized (just made it up!) we have become. The experience is not one that I would have chosen to have, but it was an adventure. Plus we were never in any danger, just inconvenienced. Plus it gave me lots of story-telling rights to impress my friends.

Yes, it was an adventure. It wasn't something I'd choose to do, but it was interesting to be a part of the blackout, especially in New York. It could have been so much worse! We had water, and we didn't have to walk to get home.

Yep, we lost water here in Detroit. Just yesterday they said it was safe to drink again.

It was kind of fun taking a shower under drips.

I've been wondering...how did you get water to drink? I think Cleveland trucked in water for people.
