somehow, this doesn't surprise me. you'll find similar "say wha?" coins if you browse through the Krause Standard Catalog of World Coins. it seems like the smaller the country, the smaller the excuse needed to fashion a ridiculously expensive commemorative coin on some obscure topic purely to bilk collectors.

palladium's ok, but what i really like are blue niobium coins.
