Clemens should leave Houston. Hometown whatever. He's wasting his final years in a loser town. He should reunite with one of his former teams if he wants any success. Of course, being a Yankees fan, he should go to NYY. Leave the Red Sox to Francona and his boy toy Schill. In fact, Francona and Schill should leave the AL East and go back to Philly ( Read more... )

In reality, Clemens should have probably retired 3 years ago. But the man is such a freak of nature that at age 43, he has the best year (ERA-wise) of his entire career. His reward for that level of stellar pitching from the Houston Astros? Possibly the worst run support in Clemens career.

I think he should definitely leave the 'Stros, but no where he goes will give him the sweetheart deal he currently has: doesn't have to travel when he's not scheduled to pitch, when he does travel he gets to use the boss' private jet to make any of his half-dozen kid's events, along with a truly insane salary, such that he could afford to have a charter jet on stand-by wherever he was, anyway...

Well, anything is possible but we'll see if the Pats can actualloy lose out since they seem to be back in that mode where they have more luck than warm bodies.

We have tickets for the game on Saturday so we'll see what happens.

Clemens: He has said he wants to pitch in this World Baseball thing. If he does that, he NEEDS to take time off and not pitch the whole season. Last year he clearly wasn't as good at the end of the season as he was in the beginning. So if he uses the World Baseball as his spring training, and re-signs with Houston after May 1st, they can give him the 1 thing no other team in baseball can. After Sept 1st, they can call up his son to the major league roster.

Miami: You're dreaming, son. No way the Dolphins beat the Patriots Jan 1st in the Razor.

I wouldn't be surprised if Damon ended up in NY. But I do agree that Clemens should get out of Houston and go to a team that will back him better. While I think it would be amusing to see Clemens as a Sox again, I don't think it will happen. Hell, I'm not even sure they are going to manage to field a team next year with the GM by committee action they have going.

Frankly if NYY want him, I don't mind seeing Steinbrenner pony up some more money.
