Redecorating the office

Feb 26, 2009 16:01

So, I've been thinkin about finally getting this old office Gumshoenized. But y'know, believe it or not, I'm not so good at this fancy, decorating mumbo jumbo...

Anyone got some good pointers or ideas to brighten this place up a smidge? I appreciate the help, pal!

gumshoenizing, my office

The dollar store is holding a sale on construction paper--two packs for a buck!

Yeah, I know, pal! I saw it when I went grocery shopping there just yesterday.

It sounds like a great deal and all, but what would I make out of all that construction paper?

Hmm, I'm not sure. Maybe those paper ring chains you sometimes see on Christmas trees? You could dangle them down from the ceiling.

Hmm...I know how to make those, pal! But...I've never seen anyone decorate their office that way before. Ya think Mr. Edgeworth would approve?

I always found that some photos brightened the office, Mr. Gumshoe.

...As a matter of fact... are some of my photo frames still there?

O-oh! I knew the people in those photographs looked familiar...! They were so nice, I decided to keep them on my desk, but...they seem to be buried under all my paperwork and files at the moment.

...Do you want them back, sir? If so, I can dig 'em out...

I see. That solves that mystery.

I have doubles of everything, so if you would like to keep them there and would keep them safe, you're welcome to do so. You're welcome to take the photos out and put in ones of your own too, of course. Perhaps they'll be motivation for keeping your desk in order?

Thanks, sir! I kinda grew attached to those pictures 'cuz they make my office feel nice and homely. I think I'll keep them just as they are...of course that is, if ya don't mind.

You must always think of the tone you wish to set with your office space. The message!

In other words, go big, go grand! Expensive books! Expensive art! Expensive furniture!

W-what if I can't afford expensive, sir?

What if?

You are the Chief of Police, are you not? What is the city paying you, if not extravagantly?

I don't care what you do with it, but I do hope you do something professional-looking and quickly. It's like stepping into a rather shoddy display from IKEA, coming into your office. Rather an unpleasant place to work.

Hey! Maybe I should make my office match yours, sir! You think it'd look good with frills and pink furniture?

No. And my office does not have frills, except the one in the display case. The rest are all tassels.

Find some sort of style of your own, as long as it's not 'random clutter everywhere.'

Well, Mr. Gumshoe, if you can afford it, decorative art pieces do have a wonderful effect on the atmosphere of a room. If not, perhaps you could experiment with a new color scheme in having your walls repainted? Green is an especially lovely color if you're trying to relax!

Oho! I like that idea! Green is my favorite color...plus it would go great with my coat! Thanks a bunch, pal!

Ha ha. Just as long as you don't blend in too well with the walls!

I hear that repainting is one of the cheaper options, so I suppose you might be in luck there too.
