[WW] Weigh In (double meaning intended)

Feb 18, 2010 10:27

So Wed was weigh-in/meeting day for WW. Our normal Cult Meeting Leader was sick so we had this other woman who lead the meeting. She struck me as more knowledgeable but at the same time less inspirational ( Read more... )

Portion sizes hilabeans February 18 2010, 17:37:56 UTC
I totally understand what you mean about portion sizes, especially at restaurants. They're huge. At one point, I had gotten into the unhealthy habit of eating as much as I possibly could when I went out to eat, whether or not I was terribly hungry. I did this partially because it was right there in front of me (though there were some other reasons too), and because I was looking at it and because I hadn't "finished" it, I'd habitually keep eating, despite knowing that most restaurant-sized "meals" are enough food to feed me for at least 2 meals, if not 3 ( ... )

I've done this before actually. You can also order lunch sized portions for dinner. You pay the dinner price but at least you're not gaining weight.

About the starbucks bit: We have Skinny Options which aren't terrible if you can stomach sugar free (which I can't.) A tall Skinny Cinnamon Dolce is only 90 calories (not sure what the point system is) so, if you want to occasionally splurge, there are tasty coffee options to do it with.

I also know you can order the short version which isn't on the menue. I don't mind the sugar free stuff sometimes but sometimes it's just not appealing.

Wait, you eat out a lot?

Kidding aside, feeling good is the best reason for eating well. It sounds like you're working things out.

Every time I turn myself around on WW's I stop having reflux. I know that's not true for everyone but it's true for me.

OK so updating my response after a little reading.

Turns out most studies point to weight loss being the only long term cure for reflux outside of infancy. Only one study differs and it differs by saying that if you elevate the head of the bed by 3-6 inches you will also have less reflux but even that study says that long term this causes sleep issues so weight loss is the only permanent answer.

Oh and one of the things that extirpates reflux... pizza sauce.

Nice post.

First off I was reading an article of the failure of BK is because they had not been seeking out new customers, but had great repeat business. But that repeat business is failing because many of those customers are getting older and moving to a healthier diet.

Second, machine guns, really. Kinda cool is some ways though with the attack on the IRS in Austin it makes me wonder what we are going to have in the future.

Third, I know your knees suck, but have you thought about starting a swimming program? I mean exercise is the key to me losing weight, if I can get my body moving and keep it moving then I lose weight. Not really sure how much I am down yet, don't want to know, but my pants a fitting looser now than they were on day 100.

exersize is great. The WW program has this thing called activity points.

I tried for years to do this with exersize. It largely got me in better cardio shape but I found that with out monitoring my caloric intake it was useless because I'd end up unconciously increasing my calories to compensate for the physical activity.

Yea I can understand that, seems that is happening to me a bit. I intend to get on the weight loss program after the first 100 days too.
