A Friend's Confession
Your heavy eyelids fluttered opened upon the soft click of the front door. Your roommate, also your best friend, was back on his date with his boyfriend. You could hear his light footsteps shuffling around the kitchen before entering your shared bedroom. As he came over by your bed, you pretended to be in a deep slumber.
Sensing that you were already asleep, the other quietly climbed onto his bed and threw the covers over his head.
And- not too long after, the silence was cut through with his whispered sobs.
You knew tonight would be like every other night; you would be staying awake, hearing your friend's desperate cries and wondering why you cannot protect your Kibum or why you were so useless.

The next night, you lied on your bed with the blankets messily thrown over yourself. You closed your eyes when the click of the door echoed in your room and as the footsteps came closer and closer.
The wooden door creaked open and a dark silhouette entered. Noticing your messy blankets, the younger boy tiptoed over to your bed. He carefully fixed your blanket, trying not to wake you up, and tucked it under your chin. He crawled into the comfort of his bed and threw the covers over his head. It was his habit.
Shortly after, a muffle cry echoed in the room.
You unconsciously held onto your breath at the sound. It broke your heart to hear his cries that screamed his pleads, and his pain.
You wanted it to be different tonight; You wanted to heal his heart tonight.
"Kibum?" You whispered ever so softly as you slowly sat up on your bed. You could almost imagine the others body tense up as he quickly wiped away any evidence of his tears.
"Yes Jinki hyung?" His voice was nasally. He tried to breath as quietly as he could, to only have it come out as a loud sniffle.
You sighed. "Bum, why are you crying?" You knew the answer but you wanted him to tell you, to allow himself to be protected by you.
The younger boy stayed silent, turning his back to you.
You got up from your bed and took a seat on the edge of his bed. Resting your hand on his shoulder, your thumb moved in a comforting circular motion. "Hm? Tell hyung."
"N-nothing Jinki hyung... A nightmare, that's all..."
"Alright," You allowed him to lie to you once again. "I am here if you need you, okay?" You gave him a light squeeze on his arm. "Good night then.”
A few minutes passed and the other murmured your name in the dark. "Jinki?"
"Yes Bummie?" You sounded eager, a bit too eager.
He hummed softly as he turned his body to face you. "Can I sleep with you, just for tonight?"
"Of course you can. Come." You answered quickly as you shifted to make room for the other. You watched him crawl onto your bed, and inside your blanket. Feeling his warm body press against yours, you smiled bitterly at the thought of how perfect this image was right now.
"Hyung..." Kibum wrapped his slender arm around your waist, pulling you even closer. He leaned his forehead on your chest, enjoying the warmth from you. You rested your cheek on top of his head, snuggling into his embrace. "Can you sing me a song?"
"It's been a while
since my heart has been changing,
since I've been dealing with it lonesome.
Every time you came back,
I hated the guy that made you cry.
I'd rather protect you,
although I don't know if it will make it better."
You stopped singing at the sound of his tears. You hushed at him softly, and pulled his chin up to get a full look at him. He avoided your gaze, blinking. The tears made your heart thump unsteadily; your fingertips trembled on his wet cheeks, wiping the tears away. "Don't cry."
At the sound of your voice, the tears caught in his lashes fell. He sniffed, as he met your almond shaped eyes. "Am I useless?"
"No Bum, you are the most amazing thing that could happen." You answered simply.
His bottom lip stuck out, forming a cute pout. "I just keep making... mistakes and..."
Your slender fingers weaved through his multicoloured hair. Planting a light kiss on his forehead, you urged him to continue.
"I must be doing something wrong in my relationship with Minho for him to...”
“Shh, it's not you Kibum.” You took his hand into yours, without thinking about it. "He just doesn't know how to appreciate you. I hate seeing you cry every single night because of him. I never understood why you loved him so much when he... when he..."
"When he doesn't even love me." He murmured in the dark.
You frowned. "Yes. I want to take you away from all the pain he gives you. I want to protect you."
"I loved Minho so much even when..."
Your throat tightened at his words. "Even when he was cheating on you?"
“I must be doing something wrong for him to look for another guy."
You sighed at his response, shaking your head slightly. "Minho is just an idiot.”
"I know Minho may not the best guy... I knew he was cheating on me, but I can't seem to let him go. It's like I'm afraid to be alone.”
“You'll always have me Kibum.”
He nodded. “Jinki hyung, he broke up with me today... It damn hurts!"
You restrained a smile at the fact. "Forget about him then, I'll be here for you Kibum, now and forever. You can count on me. I promise I will never ever hurt you."
"Why are you so nice to me?" He asked faintly, closing his eyes. He snuggled into your arms.
"There doesn't need to be a reason."
"How can you be so nice to me... even nicer than my own boyfriend?"
Your eyes missed nothing; His pain was evident. You bent down slightly to plant a kiss on his forehead. "I simply love you Bum."
"Y-you..."
"I love you." You repeated again. "Forget about Choi Minho. If only you would give me one chance, just one, I will show you how much I love you."
"I hate how nice you are to me..." A small smile played on his lips. "I hate how it is having a teensy bit of effect on me."
You leaned in and pressed a light kiss on his strawberry lips. The other didn't resist. "I love you too."

Really wanted to try out a new style of writing... But I think I failed, ahhhh~ I think it's bad not good ;___;
