it just occurred to me, now that we actually have a date, we can't put off the registry questions any more. kizayaen thought that i'd want all new stuff as far as dishes and such go, but really, the current corelle is fine with me, and mom gave me her good china and silverware. there goes the usual staples of a registry. i've looked at sites online, and ( Read more... )

One idea btw is to ask for contributions towards your honeymoon fund :) Or better yet, towards your giant flat-panel TV! Yay!

Other ideas: power tools, linens (towels, tablecloths, 1000-thread count sheets), sex toys er cuisinarts or other kitchen things, really good knives? There's no such thing as too many good knives.

i see you have a tv fetish, woman....

although if we could hook it up to the computers, that'd be a sweet screen to game on ;P

with powertools, i believe i officially have the biggest powertool currently with my mouse sander. i fear you suggesting knives though....

honeymoon fund would be good, or maybe a house fund. last i looked, even if i knew where we wanted to go, we wouldn't have been able to book anything.

I'm an Asian food nut, and I cannot do without my Black & Decker steamer and my electric wok.

I love my hard surface floor vaccum. It's much easier than sweeping.(I bought it at Target, btw)

Sleep is highly under-rated. Invest in some high quality sheets. (100% supima cotton, >400 threat count) You'll be SOOOO glad you did.

Pier 1 and Dillards do the same thing, and you can update and shop online. You can also register for gift certiificates. Should you want cookware, that gets expensive. Jersey cotton sheets, towels, decorations, pictures, couches, tables, anything..... you name it, there's a registry somewhere. New clothes, even.

Besides, you can create your Fantasy Shopping List, and have fun. We did!

told mom that once we got our own house i'd like to get some good cookware. right now it's an old hodgepodge of pots that aren't too good. hell, i still have some of the pots that marcus left at my place. i know mom will get us something that is good and practical, and not have to worry about people spending so much.

Pots & Pans, mixing bowls, measuring spoons, "Tupperware", kitchen towels, dish clothes...
Bath towels, wash clothes, floor mats...
Sheets, pillow cases, quilts, bed spreads...
Stuff that even if you have some, you can always use more.

And if you can't think of anything, just ask for gift certificates to Bed, Bath & Beyond (or Wal-mart... you can get groceries if ya need it) or traveler's checks.

And a really good meat thermometer! I like the digital ones that are magnetic (to stick to the oven door) and the long cabled probe that you can close the oven door on top of it. Comes in really handy for Thanksgiving turkey cooking.

And, ya know what... Who says it has to be "must have" items. Are there any decorations that you would like in the house? Candles, statuettes, figurines, etc.

well, until we got into the house, i won't know what decorations and such will work. may just wait on things like that until after move. we've so got to get into a house, our apartment is so small i almost have to crawl over the bed in order to get to my 'side' of the bedroom.

I've been doing my own looking around, because while I know that Jon and I will actually need all that china stuff (we have an amalgamation of stuff combined from all the roommates any of us have ever had over the years), what I *really* want is furniture, because when our rommate Daryl moves out, all of our furniture will go with him. There are plenty of furniture stores that allow you to buy gift certificates, I think that'll be key, especially if you guys want to put off until you're in your new digs. Also gift certificates for places equivilant to say, Home Depot or Ace Hardware, so that when you move and decide that all the bathroom fixtures in your new place are horrible, or if you end up with a place like Jon and I, that was decorated in the 70s and so you have (I kid you not) friggin' green bamboo tied with colorful ribbons as a wallpaper print or A TEAL CARPET, you can redecorate to your own tastes ( ... )

yeah i wouldn't mind eventually getting new furniture. the stuff we have right now for the most part was free, and in pretty good shape. once i had that foster kitten over however, my cats have taken to scratching things. i need to get them back out of that habit before we could get new stuff then, since declawing is not an option.

and matt is over there right now looking through amazon, which is dangerous.

*coughs politely*

I warmly invite you to compare the metrics of:
1) Number of items I've put on versus number of items you have;
2) Average cost-per-item of mine compared to yours (The electric blanket is yours.)
3) Overall cost of all items of mine versus overall cost of yours

And then you're going to call ME dangerous?
