Dude. The characters on The Unusuals are pretty fucking brilliant. I mean, there's only four episodes and already all of them have backgrounds [and interesting back stories from which plot points arise!] and well defined personalities and did I mention the dialog is CLASS? 'Cause it is.

Also, with that statement in mind, and I'm sure you've heard it quite a few times, but THE WIRE. You might kinda like that. ;)

HA. YES, I'm getting to that. I've acquired the first three seasons already, I'm gonna start watching it asap. :)

I AM LOVING THIS SHOW. It's funny and quirky and WEIRD and the characters are incredibly build it's got some class A dialog . . .
YAY! I totally love The Unusuals. Also, yes, ALL of the characters are likable. It's like, wha? I don't comprehend. I didn't think I'd like it because I have an irrational hatred towards AmTam, which I can't remember the cause of. But, anyway, I LOVE IT! I want icons. You should make some. :)

Castle, Dollhouse, HIMYM, UB = WORD. We're right here with those.

I really wanted to like Kings because it is so fucking pretty and I think it could be awesome, but it mostly bored me and then they went and pretty much dropped it anyway, so I gave it up. It's sad really.

I was REALLY surprised by The Unusuals, 'cause at first glance I thought it was gonna be pretty lame. But I'm so glad I stuck around past the pilot! :)

But, anyway, I LOVE IT! I want icons. You should make some. :)

Hee. Let's make a deal: you find me some caps you think would become pretty icons and I'll see what I can do. :)

Oh, thanks for the reminder about The Unusuals - I read a very positive review of the show in the newspaper while on the subway recently, made a mental note to watch....and promptly lost said mental note among all the other things rattling around in my head.

**high-fives** you on Fringe. Granted, I only watched 2 episodes, but I had a feeling I'd never quite warm up to Olivia, among other things. I had second thoughts about giving up on the show because some friends have been cheering it on, but these are the same people who liked it from the jump, so I guess I should stick with my first instinct.

And this is how it starts, EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Hee, yes. That show is like pringles chips - you can never have just one ep. My problem is I just keep rewatching the first two seasons, even though I own up to Season 5 :X

Did you ever watch the BBC Robin Hood series? If so, would you say the storytelling on Legend of the Seeker is about the same, better, or worse?

Hee. The one good thing about having to download every single show I watch is that I never forget to catch them on TV -- they're right there at my flist/rss feed/favorite torrent site just waiting for me. :)

But yeah, The Unusuals surprised the hell out of me -- I was expecting just another cop show, and so far I'm kind of amazed that they've managed so much character development in just 4 episodes.

I totally admit I'm only watching Fringe because of Joshua Jackson. But it's totally became one of the shows I watch *while doing other things*.

I've never seen Robin Wood, so I can't compare it to LotS. The storytelling is pretty predictable Joseph Campbell Hero's Quest 101. But they do manage to have some interesting dark elements as well, and the main female character is kick-ass awesome. In short: it's *exactly* what you would expect from something Sam Raimi is executive producing. :)

Fringe: And frankly, I liked it better when JJ Abrams was copycatting himself and stealing plots from Alias than now that he's trying to re-do The X-Files.

This is EXACTLY what I thought during this week's episode. I love Walter. I'm sorry that Josh Jackson is so underused.

And it's not even that he stopped re-hashing Alias plot points -- the whole "special children" being trained happened to Sydney too, and almost exactly the same way. But they're going for a very X-Files-ish vibe and it's just not working.

Okay, is Seeker any good? I've seen people mentioning it, but it doesn't look like my type of thing at all.

Well, I wouldn't call it "good". But it's been very entertaining to me -- and I've never really gone for fantasy shows that weren't created by Joss Whedon. [Before I started watching it, a friend of mine said it was very Lord of the Rings-like and that I would hate it -- but I ended up loving it, so there's that.]

As I said in a comment upthread: the storytelling is pretty predictable Joseph Campbell Hero's Quest 101. And Sam Raimi is the executive producer, and he used to exec produce Xena and Hercules back in the day. I've never seen those shows, but I'm fairly certain the vibe is similar.
