It's been canceled??? I didn't even know any episodes had aired yet, oh god. I should pay closer attention to such things!

I miss having Lauren Ambrose on my tv screen.

Yup, it was canceled this past Monday. I haven't seen any of it so I can't comment any further than it was airing on the FOX Friday Night Slot of Death, so -- kinda saw it coming.

The first time I heard about ASP's new show was with the news that it'd been canceled. At which point watching it seemed useless.

I rarely drop comedies from my schedule. I think it's in part because I don't invest all that much in them in terms of fannishness (the ones I do get invested in are the aberration, not the norm) and in part because I think 45 minutes can be too long to invest in something that isn't grabbing me, but 22 minutes isn't. I think one of the few I've quit is Scrubs because even in 22 minute chunks it was annoying me.

I really wish I could like Doctor Who, but it's like the antithesis of what I want from a show (meaningful and long-lasting relationships - of any kind), so forcing myself to watch because I got invested in one relationship seems destined to lead to bitterness. Better to just cut the cord, I thought.

I've always had a ton of problems with sitcom/comedies, so the second they start offending/embarrassing me more than I can handle, I'm out the door. Actually, other than Arrested Development, I can't think of any other half-hour show that I've watched in its full run.

Truth is I find Doctor Who kinda hollow -- you know: big ideas, not so complex execution. And while fandom does make it deeper, I'm not interested enough in the show to care about what fandom says about it.

I remember you mentioning a non-fondness for sitcoms before. Let me guess, the other sitcom=The Nanny?)

I find myself caring very little for the show itself. The writing isn't horrible, but nothing special. The plots are often silly and mostly predictable. And the love for the Doctor himself, which did increase when Ten came on the scene, is not even close to being strong enough to keep me watching. When the relationship is all you care about and that relationship ends, well, you can imagine how much allure the show holds for you.

Now I just gotta decide whether to bother with this season due to *casting spoiler*. I think I'll steal your PB approach and wait until they've aired before deciding. (On PB, though, I think I'll probably watch it at least in chunks. Really, bringing her back says to me that they realized how much the show didn't work without her. Which means they've probably wised up. Of course, I never did care about the show or them as much as you did, so I have less to lose by taking the plunge early.)

I don't think I watched all of The Nanny either, because I thought the later seasons were kinda boring. Now that I'm thinking about it, I might have watched all of Mad About You, but I can't be sure, since I did it completely out of order in years of reruns.

When the relationship is all you care about and that relationship ends, well, you can imagine how much allure the show holds for you.

I never got too deep into the Doctor/Rose relationship mostly because I never cared enough about the show overall, but I know what you're saying: that's exactly what happened to me with Prison Break. And SGA as well, though I'm still watching that show for mocking reasons. *g*

Hey, I'm new! :)

I too haven't watched Prison Break this past season. And I don't think I'll be watching or catching up either just because M/S will be back.

The Dollhouse casting is awesome. (What's with all the foreign names?) I hear some people are disappointed however as they say Tahmoh Penikett is the weakest of the BSG cast and Dichen Lachman wasn't great on Neighbors. But I have faith in Joss. And I don't think Tahmoh did that bad of a job.

I think the XF2 poster is cool at first glance, but then it gets a bit underwhelming. Still, it makes me excited. :)

Hello! :)

I'm gonna spoil myself silly for Prison Break so that I know whether or not to watch it afterwards. They burned me deep enough once already!

I *loooooove* Helo on BSG, he's pretty much my favorite male character on the show, so I'm super excited about this turn of events. Also, more Tahmoh on my TV = PRETTY BONUS. :)

I'm kinda [as in REALLY] dreading the XF2 movie, and this poster is not helping any in changing my mind about it. Heh.

I'm unsure about the X-Files movie, too. I want it to be great, but we've seen so far hasn't really reassured me. Then again, we haven't seen much. So, I guess we'll have to wait til a trailer or such.

Oh, I'm gonna spoil myself completely for the XF movie. I'm pretty happy that it's opening a day earlier in Australia, because then I can read people's recaps before I go see it. :)

Re: Prison Break. OMG. That news seriously makes my day. But -- I'm with you. Until I know how it ends? I'm not going to watch again. Because, I still doubt they're going to end up happily in any way, shape, or form. But if they do -- or at least in some acceptable manner -- I'll watch S4. S3? No. Never. But maybe I'll not sell my S1 DVDs, and maybe I'll even pick up S2. DEPENDING.

.... butyay!

Hey, we can help each other out with spoilers throughout the season! And then we decide whether to watch it or not. :)

I still don't regret the fact that I sold my S1 DVDs, but yes -- if S4 ends up going our way, I'll probably re-buy it... along with S2, even.

S3, however, WILL NOT EXIST IN MY UNIVERSE.

I'm not sure why I didn't sell mine, really. I tossed them in a corner and made angry noises at them whenever I happened to come across them.

I just don't think there will ever be anything appealing to me about S3. Much as I love some of the other characters (well, Sucre), this show has aaaalways been about the Michael/Sara for me. Michael angsting and grieving, even if they do end up somehow, somewhere, having a happy ending? Never going to cut it. (Also, WAY too traumatizing.)

So, I agree! DOES NOT EXIST.

We'll definitely have to be spoiler buddies. :)

ALSO. I'm happy that I can at least now enjoy the song "Orange Sky" again without it making me angry/sad. (Since PB's the first place I heard it.)

I figure I can rationalizing not ever watching S3 by thinking that if I do, I'll be betraying everything SWC left the show for. Also, I can't help but feel a little bit of "in your face, producers!" that now they're bringing her back. Heee.

Still not re-uploading my icons though, not until I know for sure how things are going.

I've always thought the one thing SPN needed was recurring GIRLS, and Ruby is by far my favorite.
