life is far too important a thing ever to talk seriously about

I'm working from home today, so I had planned on sleeping a little later than I usually do. Only to be woken really early by incredibly loud cheers and some guy with a megaphone saying that the Pan American Torch was passing through my neighborhood ( Read more... )

And on a final note, Catalina Sandino Moreno can do nothing on screen except stand there and I'm pretty sure I'll watch her for the rest of my life. /girlcrush

really? I can't stand her, she's the reason why I haven't seen Paris je T'aime. What is it about her that makes her likeable? I don't get it.

I don't know, I just find her absolutely *believable* in whatever she does, and that's the one thing I want from actors.

My favorite was the Alexander Payne one, but I think I love them all because OMG SO MUCH PRETTY! I need to buy the DVD as soon as possible.

Oh, I *loved* Payne's too, but Craven's was about Oscar Wilde and I about DIED from squeeing so hard. :)

I absolutely loved Paris je t'aime! I so need to see it over and over again. When I saw the film, they actually placed the director's name before each short so you knew who did what. Did they not do that when you saw it?

I really enjoyed Wes Craven's piece. I thought it was beautifully filmed. Then again, it would be difficult to make Père Lachaise cemetery look ugly.

I also really liked the very last short with the American in Paris. Her horrible accent had me cracking up... and then she mispronounced Simone de Beauvoir, and I about died. She made me feel good that my accent is not that bad.

All in all... such a pretty movie. There needs to be icons!

Oh, and I also really loved Gurinder Chadha's Quais de Seine piece. I found it so cute and sweet how the guy tried to fix her headscarf. I also love how he went to the mosque looking for the girl.
