all my friends are fuck-ups but they're fun to have around

1. I finally caved in and pre-ordered HBP online [20$ discount coupons are handy that way]. Decided I really don't want to deal with hordes of fans and waiting lines next Friday. I doubt I'll have the book before Tuesday or Wednesday, but that's fine. HP has lost most of its luster for me anyway.

2. I've resumed my West Wing watching this week, ( Read more... )

movies: batman begins, tv: west wing, harry potter, christian bale, books: half-blood prince, volleyball

Awe, I love Empire of the Sun. It's one of a bunch of movies that I feel like I grew up with. Movies that my family watched when I was perhaps a bit too young to care, only to end up loving them later on anyway :)

I was thinking of ordering HP today, but I haven't yet decided if I'm going to splurge on some others books at the same time. I am going to order it online just to get the discount, though. I'm bad that way ;)

Empire of the Sun is pretty much the movie of my childhood. :)

I pre-ordered HPB because I REALLY don't want to deal with crazed fans on Friday night. I'd rather wait a couple more days. Also, yeah, online discounts are of the good. :)

Heh. I like Christian waaay too much [and Rob Bowman too!] to watch him chasing dragons. :)

He channeled Qui-Gon for the first part - minus Qui-Gon's awful hair, thank God - and then ruined it all by monologuing...

Dude, WORD. It was like, a Jedi-gone-monotone.

- crouch, funny head tilt, smirk, crazy eyes. - "It's the batman."

Mmm. Yum.

Except for that one with the dragons and Matthew McConaughey

Good for you. I did. Because I love them. And, sorry, it's gotta be in portuguese: putaqueopariu. And the bold dirty matthew (yeah, thats what he looks like on the movie)? not that handsome

I saw Howl on Thursday with my mom, and I realized that I would have liked it a lot better if I'd never read the book. Instead, I sat through it going, "But where did THAT come from?!" and "Wait a minute, where's ____?!"

Plus, there's the always annoying lips-moving-but-different-words-being-said dubbing phenomenon.

I know people who loved it, though, so I could just be being annoyingly nit-picky. Howl is pretty, and does have Christian's voice...

I'm pretty sure we're getting Howl with the original sound + Portuguese subtitles here, so I won't see it with Christian voice until the DVD release.

Is it too different from the book? I was planning on making a couple of friends read the book before the movie, but maybe it's better they watch it first.
