I don't want the next best thing

You know, sometimes Hollywood suprises me in a good way. Like when a big studio decides to finally reunite Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves on the big screen [in a romantic comedy that's a remake of a South Korean movie, btw], and instead of hiring Rob Reiner or [God forbid!] Nora Ephron to direct it, they go with Alejandro Agresti, who's one of the ( Read more... )

But. As I was speaking of Keanu. Did you guys know he's playing Bob Arctor in the movie version of Philip K. Dick's A Scanner Darkly? And that Richard Linklater's directing it? Can I hear the collective pre-emptive SQUEE!? ;)

You've seen the trailer for this, haven't you? Very funky style...

Yes, I've seen it. I love that animation-over-film thing that Linklater does. Although this time it seems the whole movie has the same animation style, which is like, very conservative of him. *g*

when I saw Must Love Dogs' trailer, I kind of shriveled up and died inside. I was going...but you are Lloyd Dobler, you are Martin Blank - you DON'T NEED THIS SHIT.

Yes, exactly. It makes me wonder if this is some sort of reverse-midlife crisis, because instead of taking chances, John Cusack is going for the most obvious [boring] roles he could get.

I say we force Cameron Crowe to write a movie for John!

SQUEEE! Tom Tykwer! SQUEE! Perfume! Ohmigod, I'm gonna go hyperventilate. Good thing my sense of smell has been zapped by allergies. It's so perfect! *sigh* Do they know who will be cast in it yet? Furmann, Bleibtrau, Potente???

SQUEEE! indeed. I'm usually wary of book adaptations, but I trust Tykwer to make Perfume into a perfect movie. As for the cast, IMDb lists Dustin Hoffman as Guiseppe Baldini and a British actor named Ben Whishaw [don't know who he is] as Jean-Baptiste Grenouille. So even if the movie is marked as German, it'll probably be spoken in English. International market and all that, I figure.

IMDb hopping is an official part of my job description?

Wait, shit, HOW?! It's merely a HOBBY for me.
