Fraser: Well, I grew up with my grandparents in Inuvik.
Vecchio: Really? Is that downtown Inuvik or the outskirts?
Fraser: More the outskirts ( Read more... )

I wanna go to Inuvik so bad. In that nerdiest of fangirl ways. Seriously, we need to start an Inuvik website challenge. It's a font of ideas!

Oh, me too! Any temperature below 50°F makes me cry, but I still want to go because, well, because Fraser lived there!

I was just telling my one real-life fangirl friend that it's sad, but I know far more about NWT's geography than Arizona's (where we live).

You adapt though! You really, really do. Born and raised in California my whole life, one winter in Chicago and 32° became nice by the end of February. But then again, NWT....

And I totally admit to looking up pizza places in Inuvik via google maps because I am just. that. cool. And uh, surveying the landscape saying Ray and Fraser's cabin should be..... there!

hee, you are so cute. I love how we have all this fannish knowledge that we would never bother to acquire about REAL things. Like, I wouldn't ever have the slightest clue about real life military procedure, except that I do try and keep up with it for SGA.

Did you see the library's summer reading programme? It's about super heroes. Fraser might not quite be a superhero, but he's definitely a hero, and he's pretty super.

*cannot see a small-town library without wanting to move there and be a librarian*

See, that website is a FONT of inspiration! And for reals, Ray + Fraser + libraries = an unbeatable combo. Just think of all the possiblities for repressed librarian porn thoughtful character pieces!

And they're proud of their single traffic light. It's adorable that it's important enough to get a mention.

Want to hear something sad? My first thought upon seeing the Inuvik-ians? "Omg, that's my skin tone! They're reflective too!"

I know, it's so cute. It is under TOURISM! <3

And oh my, I TOO know the strange joys of being FISH BELLY WHITE. Case in point: my horrible sunburn right now. Ow.

I do not know WHAT that guy was doing in Tuktoyaktuk, but I greatly enjoyed his photos. Inukshuks seem to be RAMPANT in the far north!

Hee hee great links.

I often wonder if fraswr lived in Alert or whether he and his grandparents were in small small Inuit village near there and so Alert was the nearest place-name people would recognise.

Thanks for this rec :-)

Yeah, I don't know, I tried fanwanking that a couple times? But mostly, I just stick my fingers in my ears and say LA LA LA WHAT NONSENSICAL CANON, and that works out for me. Your explanation does make more sense than most, though.

I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself!
