Today, I've been writting my Big Fannish Project of the moment, so I thought I'd give you some research links to help you out. Because I've spent way too long looking for stuff lately.

The Chicago neighborhoods map is awesome, and I figured I'd mention that the 2-7 (in all of it's imaginary glory) is in the Loop/South Loop area, according to the postcard RayV sent Fraser, since it's got a 60607 zip code :D

Hee! It made me ridiculously happy when Rushlight had a murder victim be a Blue Demon and now I'm even more pleased :D But yeah, I've spent quite a bit of time staring at the zip code map trying to figure out where the 27 supposedly is. Of course, Milwaukee Ave is only north of the Loop, but Racine is North/South not East/West and they're cute for making it all authentic without offending any actual residents.

I know the Canadian Consulate is south of the Loop (they get on 290 North at one point and head towards the city).

The address given in BDtH for the 2-7 is:

District 27
1219 W. Maxwell Ave
Chicago, IL 60607

I've looked at this remotely--satellite pix--not in person, but here's what I conclude from what I've seen: If you follow Maxwell Ave. all the way west to where it ends at S. Blue Island Ave, the numbers run out at 1199. But postulate 20 imaginary doors west, 10 on each side of the street, and there's the 2-7. The entire length of W. Maxwell, in any case, is in the 12th district, beat 1932 (see my comments above where I gave the websites showing the locations of the districts).

One more thing? The correct zip code would be 60608. I assume Vecchio wouldn't get the zip code wrong, unless he did it on purpose for some unfathomable reason.

Where do you think the Consulate is? Welsh says it's about 25 blocks from the 2-7; he's referring to the newer Consulate, because he says it in a season 3 or 4 episode. Is your location 25 blocks from where 1219 W. Maxwell would be (if it existed)?

The only sense of where the consulate is I have is from I believe it's in BDtH, when they get on I-290 after leaving the consulate,

And that was probably the last damn thing they ever filmed in actual Chicago. Besides which, they probably just sent a very small second unit down there to film somebody driving a green Riv onto that on-ramp, and that was that. *sniffles*

...Seriously, come the fall, I'll take a poll about people's ideas and I'm going to hunt these suckers down.
