Election/Gay Marriage/Adoption notes

I never really posted anything serious about the election, and I'm not really going to write anything too long about it right now. But, I was watching the news this morning and actually tuned into Fox news, which generally has a more conservative bent than the other stations I would normally watch, such as MSNBC. If you were to honestly analyze why Obama got elected and the "gay" related measures passed you have to realize they were connected. By bringing out a higher than normal "Minority" vote it brought out more people willing to vote for Obama, but at the same time you're bringing out a more religious, more socially conservative group of voters.

Most blacks are going to identify as Christian, and most Hispanics; Catholic. Those are groups that are going to be opposed to gay marriage on religious grounds.

Personally, I don't give a rip, other than to say that marriage as a whole should not be defined by government, but then I'm a nasty Libertarian, so my opinion doesn't matter.

I saw another related poll recently someplace as a reference in an article.. maybe salon.com (not sure).. where younger people were also less religious than older people... which may also be linked to tolerance ( ... )

I agree that Obama has a lot in his hands right now, and the social issues are probably not a priority. I can understand that to some extent. I mean, it may not be ideal, but it's how it is at the moment. But, I just feel very good about the fact that the country is trending to be more accepting. And, eventually, with or without the help of a President, we're going to have gay marriage as the idea becomes more and more accepted by each successive generation.
