Just a quick note Rachel Carson wrote Silent Spring and as far as I can tell Atwood never wrote anything with that title.

I bet Margret's one of those people for whom "rational" is a dirty word. I'm sort of confused by this statement; is it some cultural thing I've missed?

May that be the only stupid mistake I make, especially in utilitarian humor such as this. Can you tell I'm worried about the Package Deal fallacy?

I'm sort of confused by this statement[.]

I've seen "rational" interpreted as "efficiency in spite of the human element," that "rational" is always "coldly rational." I suspect Margaret has this kind of thinking.

Does kind of sound that way, if her villain only does things that are in some way entirely rational.

But Crake also designs for multiple skin colors but only one eye color. Crake doesn't look like a very sympathetic villain from what I know so far, which is a warning sign when reading cautionary tales.

Nice.

Somethings that you might want to explain is who Crake is and why his parents think what they do.

We haven't met Crake and his parents yet, only Jimmy and his. I know that Jimmy's mom will get some backstory, I suspect his dad is just there to act as Mr. Sheeple.
