Chapters: Chapter 1//-\\ Chapter 2//-\\ Chapter 3

Bobby was surprised to find Rogue back at the school that night when he returned from the hospital. What he wasn’t surprised about was that she had taken the cure. He wasn’t surprised at all he gently took her hand and smiled at her. He kissed her slowly nervously, knowing that her powers could kill him if he wasn’t careful, but nothing happened. Her powers didn’t kick in and try to suck him dry. Her powers weren’t there anymore. Their kisses became more passionate more unrestrained. There hands traveled, exploring what had never been touched. They barely made it to the bed before their clothes were shed and he made love to her, holding her close as she shuddered and moaned. Afterwards he lay still in the bed, holding her close, loving the feel of her warm curves. The sound of her heartbeat under his ear was like a lullaby. But his mind wandered, thinking of John laying there in the hospital. Alone. Not knowing who he was. In the dark. He sighed softly.

“What’s wrong Bobby?” Rogue asked him gently.

He glanced up at her, smiling. He loved her. He did. He knew he did, but he remembered how much she’d changed in the last year. How cold she’d gotten towards John. When she’d first come to the school and he’d introduced her to John after that class she’s called him Johnny. He remembered John frowning and telling her his name was John, not Johnny, she hadn’t dropped the nickname. For two years it went on like that. Until finally one day out of no where she seemed intent in spending more time with Bobby. Now that he thought about it, it had started that day in the museum only days before the attack on the mansion. She’d stopped calling him Johnny and calling him John. Instead of laughing at his antics, which she always had, right along with Bobby, she got annoyed with him. He’d known John had picked it up, but that didn’t seem to stop the other boy. In fact it seemed to make him more intent on causing mischief.

“I’m just thinking about John,” He said slowly.

Her response was almost automatic. Her eyes became cold and uncaring. He wondered why he had never noticed those eyes before. “Oh,” She said. “What about him?” She asked.

“We're bringing him back to the school tomorrow afternoon,” He said slowly, watching her face.

Rogue had always prided herself on being a master of keeping her feelings masked, but in truth, as bad as John was at faking sleep, Rogue was even worse at masking her feelings. He could read the disgust plan on her face. He really wondered what had made Rogue hate John so much.

“Why?” She asked.

“He needs our help,” He responded closing his eyes, not wanting to see her face anymore.

She seemed upset now, and that was understandably so. She didn’t like the firestarter anymore and it didn’t make any sense to him. He sighed softly and kissed her deeply, the kiss led to more and when he woke in the morning all that remained was her scent and a letter. She was gone from his life just like that. He wasn’t surprised at all by this. They all made there decisions that suited their lives and this had been hers. He accepted it and didn’t harbor any hard feelings.

Instead, to keep his mind off of Rogue leaving he went to what had once been his and the fire mutants’s room and stared at it. He’d refused to let anyone touch John’s things when the other boy had left and now he was glad he had. He slowly straightened his side of the room making it neat and orderly stopping at that invisible line that had been drawn the day he’d come to the school and Xavier had put him in this room. Actually, at one point the line hadn’t been invisible. John, in an attempt to prove to Bobby he was better than him, had burned a perfect line from ceiling to floor across the carpet and back up the wall again right down the center of the room. He’d growled at Bobby to keep his shit on his side of the room and then went back to his bed, flicking that ever present lighter.

Click, flick, swoosh.

Bobby sighed. running his fingers across the burn in the wall. It had never been repaired, like the carpeting. He smiled softly and finished cleaning his side, waiting for Storm to come get him so they could go pick up John and bring him home. Maybe this time, without Rogue, he could keep John from leaving.

“You Ready?” A voice asked from the doorway.

He turned, shocked to see Kitty standing there. He nodded. “Yeah, I think so.” He said slowly, easily. “Your going to?”

“Just you and me are going. Storm’s got some stuff to do before the new school year starts. She figured you and I could handle bring hothead back.” She said with a sweet smile.

Next to John, Kitty had been his best freind before Rogue. Things had changed and now Kitty was just Kitty, sweet innocent missing home Kitty. At least she had a home to go to. He remembered her telling him one time that she had a crush on John and he’d told her good luck. Luck had nothing to do with the Kitty/John relationship. It had been fast, hot, and painful for both. It had ended with both mutants in there own corners licking there wounds and excepting defeat. Even though John had said he’d technically won. Bobby hadn’t even tried to explain that a relationship wasn’t something to be won.

“Alright,” He said with a nod. “Lets go get him.”

She smiled that sweet innocent but knowing Kitty smile and led the way out of the school. He could see why John didn’t want to admit defeat to her. She was to cute and cheerful and so not John. He couldn’t help but smile then, knowing things were going to be interesting to say the least.
