I've had similar problems over the past while. I've always had issues with depression, and interacting with people, and I know how it feels when just as you're really making progress, you have a compulsion to lock yourself away beside your computer and only associate with people via IM.
You just have to push through the hard parts and stick with it. You ARE just as interesting and funny as everyone else out there (yes, you actually are) and they feel the same way about you (yes, they actually do).
The hardest part for me is convincing myself that I AM friends enough to continue establishing a friendship with new people. I give up too early. Just keep trying.
