I like that Tim made sure Sean knows he can talk to him, even about his love-life. Pretty much telling Sean he really does accept him for who he is. I believe they are better off friends. No offense to Tim, but he chews women up and spits them out! When it comes to Tim, Sean is to vulnerable. If things went sour he'd never recover ( ... )

Thank you shabby! This is awesome!

I think Tim could be a really good friend like that. He may be self-absorbed and tantrumy, but he really does care and want to do right by people. I think that would work better with with friends who aren't prone to screwing up than it does with prisoners who are.

I used to be a really hands-off writer, who left a lot of room for readers to figure out character motives and such, but over the years I've shifted to really trying to capture specifics. This story was kind of an attempt to step back and leave it ambiguous again, hoping people would read the characters in their own way, so I love so much that you've told me how you see them. I could natter on at length in response, but some of this is in where the story goes from here.

Sean definitely deserves some love and tenderness.

Thank you! I'm so happy you're enjoying it! We're all in need of some happy escapism at the moment, I think.

Whew! That was hot.

I'm happy with how you ended this chapter- Sean seemingly back in control (which means the shit's probably bound to hit the fan any second now).

Looking forward to reading more!

Thanks, cmk!

Yes, Toby would obviously do well to learn from Sean, but there might be a thing or two that Sean would do well to learn from Toby, like making an exit. Not many things, one hopes, but a couple.

Good Lord, that was some hot sex right there! Slow, steamy, and long, without being at all monotonous or repetitive--that's great writing ( ... )

Yayyyyy, thank you! If at any point you had the impression that this story grew out of a need to string a whole bunch of Sean-Toby sex scenes together, well... you wouldn't be entirely wrong...

I mean, Sean would have to wonder, wouldn't he? That relationship must be such a curiosity from the outside, for people who didn't get to hear their intimate confessions like Pete did.

Oh, thank you so much! It's so helpful hearing how you're reading this. You always give me such a helpful mix of letting me know which notes I hit right, and reminding me of ways I might nudge around the future chapters.

Let's be fair, Sean's perfectly aware which head he *should* be thinking with. He just... isn't. And it's difficult to blame him.

Thank you vanilla!

You know, I just realized that the reason why I found Toby kissing Sean so significant is because I was having a flashback to slutty Toby in the middle of Someone Like You, freaking out when Hector tried to kiss him while they were dancing in Franco's. Even though Toby and Sean have already sucked each other's cocks, the kissing adds a degree of intimacy that wasn't there in their previous hookups. It was such a pleasant surprise, until Toby started acting all unhinged.

(On the other hand, canon Toby kissed Mondo, and seemed to have been kissing Shemin, too, when Said busted them, so maybe his willingness to kiss depends on what level of self-loathing he's working with on any given day. OR on how high/drunk he is.

Actually, now that I really think about it, there's no way to really know why Toby does the things he does. Heh. Nevermind.)

Kissing can be a fun thing to play with, who finds it intimate, and who doesn't.

I don't know how canon Toby feels about kissing, but I would say with Mondo it was all about pissing Chris off. And seizing control with Mondo. Chris had given his blessing for Mondo to rape Toby, so the best revenge (and defence) Toby had was to 1. choose it, 2. trash the intimacy that Chris had trashed.

With Shemin I always just assumed it was craving any kind of intimacy. For most guys in there sex is all either power or just sticking their dicks in something to get off. Maybe from Browne Toby had figured out that he wanted to be touched. (I found it interesting that he'd hooked up with a small weedy nobody guy who clearly had no power over Toby, so he wasn't looking for someone else who would abuse him, like Mondo.)

I think in SLK I was going more for debasing and self-punishment, and a fear of kindness?

Though yes, this is the joy of Toby. There are so many potential reasons for him to make terrible sex decisions!
