Have any of you read The Host by Stephenie Meyer?

It's actually quite good. Slow to get into, but good. So much better written than Twilight.

Anyway...Are people fucking insane with the insertion of Sophia Bushwack as Melanie?
Like completely fucking looney????? Did they miss the fact that Melanie/Wanda is like a VERY VERY complex, powerful entity/ ( Read more... )

I tried to get into The Host, but I couldn't...but then again I didn't really read that much farther than the first couple of chapters. When does it pick up? Maybe I'll try it again.

It was really hard for me to get into until probably around 70 pages into it. Which isnt too too long considering it's a 600+page book. But at first I was like you and entertained the thought of giving up on the read ( ... )

Hmmm that's good to know. My BFF who has no love for the Twilight franchise, loved The Host too. I think I'll give it another shot one day.

Yeah, I mean...I'm not a huge Twi-hard or whatever they're calling themselves these days, but I really enjoyed Twilight (I read it three times). New Moon was alright. It was only when I got to Eclipse, I was like WTF. Breaking Dawn just made me laugh. I just don't take it all very seriously. I think people should just be happy that it's getting people to read and discuss anything.

I've read The Host and really liked it. It's a little slow to the start for sure but I really got into it and I actually like it better than Twilight.

I'm with you on the Sophia stuff too, I remember after I first read it seeing stuff of her as Melanie and I was like just no. The only thing they have in common is their hair color. And I haven't read the book in so long that I may be wrong about that.

I can't even imagine Sophia playing one person that wasnt completely frivilous well. Let alone two beings in one. It would be a massacre.

I'm glad I found someone I know who liked The Host better than the Twilight series. I found TWL to be more addictive but The Host has stayed with me since I read it and I doubt that I'll forget it anytime soon. I forget whole parts of the Twilight series.
