Have any of you read The Host by Stephenie Meyer?
It's actually quite good. Slow to get into, but good. So much better written than Twilight.
Anyway...Are people fucking insane with the insertion of Sophia Bushwack as Melanie?
Like completely fucking looney????? Did they miss the fact that Melanie/Wanda is like a VERY VERY complex, powerful entity/

I think because she started out on more of the soul (the beings implanted into humans) side/perspective and I didnt really understand what was going on it was hard to read. To start it was a completely different reality, so in reading your mind has to work to figure everything out and keep pace with the story at the same time.
But once it switched over to dealing with just Wanda/Melanie and the humans, I was able to keep pace and thus get into the story. The surroundings of the book became a less sci-fi and more human, so I could relate and became invested.
I found it to not only be entertaining and engrossing but also very complex and thought provoking. I think people who harsh on Stephenie Meyer for Twilight's craptastic-ness** would be quite surprised to read The Host and know that it was by the same person.
**To be honest I never get why people harsh on SM anyway (as far as writing goes) because anything that my friend's 12-year-old daughter and my 54-year-old mom can equally love and not be able to stop reading is pretty damn amazing in my book!

Yeah, I mean...I'm not a huge Twi-hard or whatever they're calling themselves these days, but I really enjoyed Twilight (I read it three times). New Moon was alright. It was only when I got to Eclipse, I was like WTF. Breaking Dawn just made me laugh. I just don't take it all very seriously. I think people should just be happy that it's getting people to read and discuss anything.
