So I'm going to be running a Mutants & Masterminds game when my "space cops" prequel for One Jump Ahead finishes. (No, it's not the pulp game. The group seemed to want something more traditional.) DV8, the first eight issues or so by Warren Ellis is about a group of super-powered kids in a really shitty situation. It is fairly nuts and dark.

Joss Whedon's first few arcs in Astonishing X-Men were a whole lot of fun.

Brian Michael Bendis' New Avengers, particularly the team that branches off from Tony Stark after Civil War might do the trick.

Marvel's post-civil war team book, The Order is a book my friends say is criminally under-rated.

DV8 is a very, very solid suggestion. Of course, Judd beat me to it. ;)

Do you read Top 10? In its' own way, it's street level, complete with street crime.

Other than that, I love all the suggestions you've already been given. My final suggestion? Move back to MA and let me play. :D
