The Reenactor Post stumbled across some amazing images via Warren Ellis’ blog awhile back, and I’ve been meaning to post about it ever since. A Russian named Sergei Larenkov took old WWII era photographs, went back to the precise location at which they were shot, took a new photograph, and then blended the old photo into the new. wow...those are really neat--it's amazing how much of the skyline seems to look the same, even where the buildings have gone from bombed-out shells to smooth and inhabited, when so many american cities (even those that look old) have been almost totally torn down and rebuilt in that period.
