I liked the second one more: A great song by Dash, and really shows her element-of-loyalty-ness.

Considering it's a solo-pony story with only limited interaction, it did surprisingly well.

-but raises some even larger ones such as how the hell haven't there been any winters between Season Two and this one - especially since the Hearth's Warming Eve episode took place AFTER Dash got her pet tortoise.-

Episodes aren't necessarily chronological. I'm quite sure S1s weren't.

If Dash got Tank in early Spring, not long after coming out of his last brumation*, I think that'd fit.

*Reptile hibernation!

-I wonder who helped ponies with recurring nightmares while she was exiled to the moon? -

I suspect NMM *caused* some....

Other than that, through ways not as quick as a dream princess, I'd imagine.

Bears don't hibernate either - they're just asleep. As the first biologist who tried to take ones rectal temperature discovered. Said biologist then earned a land speed record.

ISTR that all being explained as Equestrian animals not being quite like their Terran counterparts - you'll recall the Winter Wrap-Up ferrets not only hibernating, but being delighted at the vegetable selection offered? ^_^ (And nope, leporines don't hibernate, either - active year-round, even if snow isn't necessarily their favorite thing, unless they're used to it. And even then, I wouldn't be entirely sure)

I'd lean the other way, actually. ^_^ I wasn't all that taken by the opener, but these two felt quite strong, Tanks for the Memories especially - to metaphorically address death in such style is something of an accomplishment.
