After much practice, reading, and deliberation i finally broke down and bought into online poker. I sent $150 Bodog's way thanks to an invite from Kirk (everyone's favorite hustla). Yesterday was the first day i played. I made $10 online, and stopped early in the evening to play a live game with friends and took home $15 from that. Seriously, ( Read more... )

ToP is good; also Small Stakes Hold'em or anything by Ed Miller; Harrington's "Harrington on Hold'em" series I've heard acclaimed also.

You should check out http://twoplustwo.com/. Serious players with bankrolls regularly post actual hands they've played and provide/receive input from other forumites. The mathematical basis that the Theory of Poker originated is treated there as the only sensible method of play and most of my improvement as a player came from reading threads there.

Cool. i've been browsing through two plus two when i get time. The threads there seem pretty informative and somewhat akin to experience. Lee jones' book is pretty good 100 pages in so far. i think i'm becoming a better player overall.

My life is just a little hectic and i don't have as much time this week.

When did you start/how long have you been playing poker?
