Provider Annoyance: The Return

So apparently AT&T's found a new way to piss me off; make Kingdom of Loathing unplayable, by dropping the DNS cache for all images. A router reset, and the DNS cache rebuilds, so I get about 3 minutes of play time, then it drops it, and all images are unviewable again. Problem is, I don't know where the cache is stored; on my router or at the CO. ( Read more... )

The box from ATT acts just like a cable box. You plug in any router with DHCP enabled and multiple devices share the connection. However, first make certain it isn't the box flipping out instead of the router. Have your computer plugged directly into the ATT box and see if the problem persists. If so, the Uverse box is dropping out instead of the router. If the problem goes away, then it was the router.

I recommend linksys wrt54g or gl, running Tomato instead of Linksys's weakcheese software. http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato

That makes me think that one of two things is the problem.

One: The AT&T box thing is flaky (n which case you need to get it replaced).

Two: The images are cached remotely, and it's the remote cache screwing up somewhere.

However, IANANT, so I could be way the fuck off base here.

(Also, when the hell did you start playing Kingdom of Loathing, mate?!)
