LJ allows me to keep in touch with friends.

I suppose Myspace _could_ do the same, but it's principly a egoBoost webhost for replacing a personal homepage. Useful for things like promoting your band or a book I suppose.

Twitter's a decent option if you have a website and would like to offer updates on any new content, or on what you're working on.

That's what I plan to use my Twitter for soon enough.
