You have got some of the shittiest luck with boys. >>;;; I think I'd have given up by now. (And, uh. First boys suck. A lot. This is just a personal observation, biased very very much.)

If it's something you think you need to do, do it. If you don't, you'll probably only regret it later, especially if it'll be as far-reaching as you're saying.
