SGA Random Fandom Ramblings

Nov 15, 2009 23:10

While I've seen lots of TV shows or movies, or read lots of books, that have inspired me to pick them apart and have lengthy discussions about them, I've never blogged about a fandom before. However, for the first time ever, I'm the only one in my RL world that has any interest in talking about SGA and I really have lots of stuff to say...hence ( Read more... )

SQUEE!

Don't mind me, I'm just reliving my own discovery of SGA's awesomeness. At least, the awesomeness of the first three seasons, hahahah! :P Old-skool Sparky for the win! :D

Yeah, me too. I have so enjoyed rediscovering Sparky through your eyes. I hope you will blog lots. I don't mind repeating the analysis we did before and even getting into new things ( ... )

I'm glad that I have people to discuss all of this with. Like I said, Jason will let me ramble on, but there's not really any conversation being had about stuff...

Stargate in general is the first fandom I've really been involved with too...I kinda followed the Harry Potter fandom but definitely not to this extent.

I have lots to say about lots of things...be prepared for lots of blogs! lol (and I will address my feelings/thoughts of the ship war and the kisses and all that...)

I'm with you in the reason I'm tentative of the Sheylas. I can't even imagine what the ship wars were like, with the few unpleasant people I've seen. Most of them were nice, but the few flamers? Whoooo...

I got saw a glimpse of Sparky in "38 Minutes" (in the jumper bay, once John's heart starts again, you just can't miss the relief in Elizabeth as she sinks down...and it definitely was more than a boss/colleague kind of reaction) "The Eye" literally smacked me in the face with it's Sparky-ness...and after that I was a goner...

I need to read/hear the interviews...and I've tried to see as many con vids as I can get my hands on (which sadly, isn't many, at least not with Torri...)

And yeah...the writers totally missed a golden opportunity with Sparky...

I was not going to ship ever again after HP! I ran into too many not nice people, and decided shipping wasn't worth it. So I tend to have a favorite character and then don't particularly care who they end up with, so long as their development is good ( ... )

ITA with the issues with the J/T ship. It's like tptb slapped us right in the face with "Ship THEM" in "Rising" and then it just fizzled...at least til "Conversion" when they saw an opportunity to use it (and they used it so poorly and grrr...but again, that's all for another blog....) Never once, on any episode, did the way they wrote John and Teyla did if ever leave me wonder "hmm..wonder what happened once the cameras stopped rolling." John and Elizabeth, however, had TONS of those "oh you know they're SO doing it off-screen!" moments (it was even kinda brought up in the commentary for TLG - one of the guys asked Torri if J/E went at each other as soon as cut was called at then end of one scene - I need to watch it again and I can tell you where it was and what exactly was said). They just had that chemistry. And while Rachel and Joe have their own special chemistry too, it never felt like romantic chemistry to me...but again...I do intend to do a shippy blog -probably later today- and will probably repeat myself a little...
