SGA Random Fandom Ramblings
While I've seen lots of TV shows or movies, or read lots of books, that have inspired me to pick them apart and have lengthy discussions about them, I've never blogged about a fandom before. However, for the first time ever, I'm the only one in my RL world that has any interest in talking about SGA and I really have lots of stuff to say...hence the first ever fandom blog...
I don't expect everyone to agree with me...I expect that some of what I have to say may be unpopular or may make people angry. Keep in mind, this is just how I see things...feel free to disagree, just try not to be jerky about it...thanks! :P
So, I didn't get into SGA until this past summer...I'm getting the DVDs from the library, so I have a long wait between seasons, and it sucks...but well worth the wait.
Season One...I will admit...when I first watched it I was kinda like "Ok...it's all right I guess"...and I was NOT much of a fan of Weir...And I had decided that I was not going to ship ANYONE because of the disaster that was the Sam/Jack ship on SG1...
But then I kept watching...over and over (I had the DVDs for three weeks after all)....and I fell in love...with the show, with the characters, with all of it...AND Elizabeth grew on me; she has become my favorite character (one of them anyway)...And...*sigh*...I fell for Sparky - hardcore and unintentionally (which imo means it's a killer ship, b/c I wasn't even looking for it!). I like the friendship b/w John and Teyla, they have a really great relationship, but not a 'shippy' ship - it was just to obvious to me that tptb wanted us to ship them and I'm nothing if not a rebel! ;) AND they had tried that with Sam and Jack and failed miserably, and I wasn't setting myself up like that again.....So...season 1...ended up being a good start....
Then I had to wait a month and a half for season two!!!!! *headdesk* Apparently there are still A LOT of people who wanna watch SGA still (stupid stupid ptb....*sticks out tongue at them*)
In the meantime, a friend and fellow JF thunker at GateWorld hooked me up with most of Season Three and all of Season Five...so I watched some of S3, just to get my fix, but was confused b/c I had missed a whole season...
Anyway, I finally got the email that told me that S2 was waiting for me! Lots of squee-ing ensued....and lots and lots of watching....
OMG Season 2 = LOVE!!!!
The first time through the season, I'll admit, I watched through Sparky tinted glasses...I just couldn't help it.
I love the flirting and the eye!sex and the...the...the chemistry. I can't tell if it's simply the way Torri and Joe play against each other, or if it's intentionally written in there and they just had fun with it...either way, I don't care...it's fun...and cute....and I love it! :P
Then I watched again and couldn't help but think "Holy cow...this is some great stuff!"
I feel like they pushed the envelope a lot in some of these eps...and Iove that we got a lot of great character development...and even better that it wasn't all positive character development...we got to see the flaws in our heroes and I love it! (I will blog more about that later...there are specific eps that really struck me ....)
I have to return the DVDs for S2 on the 24th...and I don't wanna....This is undoubtedly my favorite season (for now anyway)....
I will blog more later...I'm running out of steam and have to convince my 3 year old that it is, in fact, ok to go to bed at 11:00 - that there's nothing interesting going on....
