Tissot Dress

I've always loved Tissot's painting Too Early from 1873. And then one day I decided 'to hell with it, I'm going to make the pink dress'. And then mandie_rw wanted in and somehow a group formed that is making all the dresses in the painting. Yeah, I realized that after I went to bed. I guess I'll just have to play with it when I actually start draping it on the form and see if the ruffles work with the gathering on the bodice or not.

he may even have had the dress in his studio and just used it to dress models and pose them, its not without precedent.

It also shows up in "Ball on Shipboard" by him, in the background (in two places, possibly), so I think you're right.

There's a glimpse of it in the left center, and possibly in the lower right with a different bodice.

And because I am a total dork, my only real thought is, "Oh, that poor macaw! His plumage looks awful, whatever can they be feeding him??"

I pretty much thought the exact same thing when I saw him. My guess is probably what a lot of people who don't do research think parrots ought to eat: nothing but millet and other seeds, when in fact they need quite a bit of fruit.

Actually, I was reading something that had an account from somewhere around the time in question, and it said that the parrot ate cake soaked in milk.
