When I was about eight (late 1980s), my jazz ballet class used "Surfin' Safari" for our yearly performance. I've always enjoyed the Beach Boys in general too, because my dad is a fan.
I've never heard the Sweet Pea song before now though!
I don't think it's at all well known but it was a hit in 1966 and I was gaga over it. I think they almost wore the 45 out playing it for me...I also think there may be super8 film of me dancing and hopping and twirling to it (although if there is a god it may have been lost). I hadn't thought of it in years but now that I've heard it again I want to find a copy!
