So we've gone out to hear music and gone to movies in the middle of the day and met for drinks at a favorite place and gone to non-family friendly restaurants and bought a new coffee table....Wheee!
Yay for non-family friendly joints! When did it become law that all restaurants had to become family friendly? I waited tables for such a place back in college and you wouldn't believe the number of people that complained about the fact that we didn't have high chairs, or the fact that we didn't have a kid's menu, etc. They didn't want to hear that we weren't a family restaurant...
In fact, that's one of the things I love here in Tokyo-most restaurants are not kid friendly. Of course there are the big chain family restaurants, but for the most part, people do not take their kids out to eat here-unless it's a Denny's or McDonalds. So wonderful, chic little cafes abound.
Exactly! Although I'd hate to be stuck with only chain-type places. There are tons of wonderful restaurants in Austin that are fun and casual and fine for kids and I applaud that. When, however, we're out for a night without the munchkin I want a pretty kid-free environment. Plenty of room in this town for both.
