the comment below made me giggle because i noticed that you always spell heels "heals", and it is/was kind of endearing if only because you clearly don't have grammar issues.

it's funny the grammar stuff I get stuck on, for ages I blamed it on being raised with two languages but honestly at this point there isn't an excuse. I'd like to think the heals/heels issue is more of a Freudian reminder of the damage 8 hours a day in stilettos is doing to my feet :P

yeah it's kind of amazing, really, this is one of those stories I don't often share because there is so much negativity and sadness and shame and pain associated with it, but it's been so long now that I'd like to think it's more of an ancient history piece. Uterine massage is how the professionals stop the bleeding after birth right, but I certainly knew nothing of that at the time, I figured it was just dumb luck.
