Isn't it like, divided between Kansas State and Missouri too? I think I remember somebody telling me it was.
I also decided to move back to my hometown for similar reasons. It was the best decision ever. In fact, a good one, unlike all of my previous best decisions.
While Technically state line runs through town and there IS a Kansas City, KS... We do not acknowledge it as part of actual Kansas City for no apparent reason...
A long time ago some mystical energy decided that just referring to Kansas City meant Kansas City, MO, and if you were speaking of the Kansas City, you would specify "KCK" for Kansas City, Kansas.
As an addendum to the esteemed mr. darksphere's comment, when one refers to Kansas City, it is likely that the term is describing the metro area which encompasses KCMO, KCK and many smaller surrounding towns in both Missouri and Kansas (all the way to Lawrence, in fact). The metro area is huge and if you can't find what you're looking for there, you didn't really need it. But he's right, even people who live in KCK don't just call it Kansas City.

Anyway... don't mind me, I'm tragically glib.

Well technically "Toronto" (everything all the way to Hamilton) is a variety of Detroit, but most people aren't aware.
