Chaptered
A Walk Down Memory LaneSummary: Memory is a tricky thing. Love is too.
What I Think: Doesn't matter how many times I read this fic, I love it just as much as the first time.
Rating:
Addiction seriesSummary: Jaejoong's addicted.
What I Think: Guh. Really. Breaks my heart 33 different ways, but it's so absolutely beautifully written. Just amazing if you aren't necessarily looking for a pretty, happy ending.
Rating:
Ai no Hyougen ~An Expression of Love~Summary: Just like learning a new language, love is difficult and you need to work for it.
What I Think: Cute little bite-sized snippets in the life of JaeMin as they learn Japanese. Really like how the author tied in their learning process to the growth of the relationship.
Rating:
Because of You **WIP**
Summary: Min is a simple boy who was rejected by his first love. However, when he agrees to tutor a delinquent, his life turns upside down in ways he never wished it would.
What I Think: This fic... Well, okay, let me be completely honest here. The writing, especially in the beginning, is not necessarily up to my usual standard. It could use some work. It's not BAD in any way, at all, but it can be a bit awkward in spots. That being said: This is one of my favorite fics of all time. It's just a whirlwind, up-and-down, rollercoaster of emotions. I really can't even tell you how many times I've gone back and re-read this fic, just to experience that ride all over again.
Rating:
Dangerous Mind **WIP**
Summary: A talented singer and composer, and a runaway teen at 17, Changmin escapes to Japan and attends an international school. Underneath all the boyish charms, he is a shy and distant boy, and a Tae-Kwon-Do expert. He hates the attention he gets, distancing himself from adoring friends and boy-crazy females. For him, the only way to survive is to shut himself out from the world. He does this, only to turn into the target of the local underground gang. He is hiding something. His secrets will soon be divulged. Changmin finds himself in even greater danger than before.
What I Think: So many twists and turns and ups and downs... Definitely kept me hanging on until the very end.
Rating:
Fall in Love Whenever You CanSummary: After Changmin accidentally lets slip the fact that he’s gay to his friend- he still thinks Junsu got him drunk on purpose- he is then subjected to a series of blind dates, each of whom Junsu claims is perfect for him.
What I Think: This one kinda pulled my heart out in a few different places. I would root for them to make it work but not see how it possibly could. A really great love story.
Rating:
Forever's Not EnoughSummary: Jae Joong and Chang Min have always been together. Even though Jae's with someone else, Chang Min accepts it and he's ready to move on with his life, but one accident may bring more than just suffering to the two drifting friends.
What I Think: For some reason, I never seem to remember this fic based on title alone. That being said, I LOVE this fic. Again, it's just that roller-coaster of emotions, not quite knowing how it's going to end.
Rating:
Midnight RomanceSummary: It was supposed to be fun; it wasn’t supposed to mean anything. But it did, and they fell in love. Now, secrets will be revealed and pasts uncovered in one unraveling moment…but will it be enough in the end?
What I Think: So, Jae's a bit of an oblivious butthead, and it's definitely an emotional rollercoaster all the way through. Very addicting, very amazing.
Rating:
Of Watermelon Lipgloss, Espionage, and a Pair of Sparkly Purple HeelsSummary: Sometimes you just can't be too afraid to look for the love that's standing right in front of you.
What I Think: One of the definitive JaeMin fics. The End.
Rating:
Pedestrian CrossingsSummary: Billions of people, millions in South Korea. Two people bump into each other and without knowing, their story begins to unfold.
What I Think: Really cute. Really, really. Starts before debut, with JaeMin's very first meeting as trainees. Their interactions are great, all the way through the story.
Rating:
Purple LinesSummary: Purple lines connecting Jae to Min
What I Think: Really creative, all the different types of purple lines the author comes up with. Some are more fluffy/cute, others a little more angsty.
Rating:
RealSummary: Changmin is afraid of facing the truth, reality.
What I Think: My heart just breaks for Minnie in this one. And the option of a happy or not-so-happy ending is nice, depending on the mood.
Rating:
Second ChanceSummary: Second chances are not guaranteed, nor are they given freely.
What I Think: Really cute. Basically just a simple AU love story
Rating:
SimplySummary: Jaejoong waits for Min to express his feelings, hurting him but wanting him all the same.
What I Think: This fic... worried me. Jae's methods seemed kind of harsh, almost cruel. And yet it seemed to work. Dunno.
Rating:
Spaceboy,
Natureboy,
GoldenboySummary: Jaejoong = vampire; Changmin = not so much. (dreaming_col notes: Okay, crappy summary. This is one of those that I had to make up, and I'm not so good at it. Obviously.)
What I Think: Love this 'verse. Love it. I have a weakness for vampire stories anyway, and this is is just... tear-your-heart-out tension and angst and love and awesomeness.
Rating:
StillSummary: The mounting stress of his life in DBSK and the temptations for release of such leads Jaejoong's life to steadily descend until he finds the disquiet of his heart has the ability to be stilled by the young Changmin.
What I Think: Troubled Jaejoong. Innocent yet mature Minnie. A really nice love story, all around.
Rating:
The Meaning of Being LonelySummary: Because, even if running doesn't get us anywhere, at least we found something greater in the midst of the chase
What I Think: I really like the way this story is told, the timeline aspect of it and everything. Very pretty, a little bit angsty.
Rating:
The Scantron ChroniclesSummary: Mix-ups, misunderstandings, and romance. (d_c notes: Yeah, another one of mine. I apologize. *hangs head in shame*)
What I Think: This... is a crazy fic. It's this way, then it's that way, then it's something else. Seriously, crazy.
Rating:
Wanted LoveSummary: Jaejoong really shouldn't have been snooping around in Changmin's room because this is the situation it brings him in.
What I Think: So, I obviously have a weakness for these types of fics. Another emotional roller-coaster with dubious morals. But it's a happy ending, so what else do you really need?
Rating:
Ways of CommunicationSummary: Jaejoong and Changmin have different ways of communicating.
What I Think: So cute. So so so so SO cute. Not sure what else to say.
Rating:
One-Shots
A Contemplation of the Four SeasonsSummary: In which Jae Joong tries to understand what Changmin is to him and figures out that love is a mistress that has taken him by force
What I Think: Fluuuuuuuuffy. Really. Something nice and sweet for those days when you just kinda need a smile.
Rating:
A Firecracker Sort of LoveSummary: A drunken confession.
What I Think: Drunk!Changmin is, like, one of the cutest things ever.
Rating:
A Home for UsSummary: Changmin's keeping a secret.
What I Think: One of those fics where you're sure one thing's going on even if you don't want to believe it's possible but can't see how it could be anything else. And then the truth is revealed, and it's just... heart-breaking, in a way.
Rating:
A (Likely) Series of EventsSummary: A schizophrenic collection of scenes about falling in love. Soul rotting fluff.
What I Think: A really nice progression, and I just love all the little scenes and descriptions.
Rating:
All That GlittersSummary: For the prompt at least I remember I love you, which is a terrific prompt, really. Also partly inspired by, and lyrics shamelessly filched from, Michael Buble's 'Home'.
What I Think: I just love this: the idea, the style, Jae's almost stream-of-consciousness narration... It just works.
Rating:
Always be HereSummary: Jaejoong returns from a break just to find the other four aren't where he expects them to be...
What I Think: Oh. Ohmygosh. This one... It starts out as a bit of a mystery, but then it just clicks, and it's just... ugh.
Rating:
And Silently He Stole You Away into the Starry NightSummary: He wakes you in the middle of the night to come with him to one of his familiar haunts.
What I Think: It's never really specified, but I just imagine a really young Min, maybe shortly after debut. Really cute moment.
Rating:
A Second ChanceSummary: "...And the worst thing was that every time someone asks him about his name,
Max would always say “Changmin” with so much ease that it worried his mother so much more.
She had to correct him each time with ‘Your name is Max’."
What I Think: Really cool supernatural, reincarnation fic. Definitely wish it had been continued; I think it could've made a really great multi-part story. But it is cute/interesting as-is.
Rating:
Between Saturn and the MoonSummary: It's something between them they never quite define.
What I Think: Breaks my heart. This story is just loaded, overflowing with unfulfilled emotion. Just really, really brilliant.
Rating:
Breaking the WavesSummary: In which Jaejoong seeks closure in a worn scrapbook of memories and Changmin tries for redemption after five years of silence.
What I Think: Really, really beautifully written: the inclusion of the photographs, the real-time thoughts and actions in brackets with the flashbacks after. It all just adds together to make a really gorgeous piece. It's kind of heart-wrenching but in a… quieter way, I guess.
Rating:
Brought to You In TechnicolorSummary: Your world is white.
What I Think: This, just... Ugh. There's a twist, then another twist, and it kinda breaks your heart then puts it back together again.
Rating:
Cloudy Question MarksSummary: These are the crossroads between a man who owns a rice cake cart and a man with too much wealth and a taste for something different.
What I Think: Awkward Changmin with a serious crush is just too adorable to pass up, really. My only wish is that it was a liiiiiittle bit longer.
Rating:
Common SensibilitySummary: Falling in love through the five senses.
What I Think: Gorgeous. The descriptions are amazing, and Changmin's uncertainty and angsting is kind of cute and endearing in a way.
Rating:
Crazy (Like You Know I've Never Been)Summary: Jaejoong knows that Changmin exists. That Changmin is there.
What I Think: Heart-breaking. Just... It's hopeful, in a way, but it still hurts. But it hurts beautifully.
Rating:
DealsSummary: Slightly horror. Inspired by reading too much King/Barker. Written for _starcandy's Awesome!1000+ contest for the prompt no pain, no gain.
What I Think: Ohmygosh, I LOVE this one. It's very kind of... macabre, and dark. Just the kind of stuff I like. A liiiiiittle bit disappointed that Yunho had to be the one to play that particular role (you'll see when you read), but it also seems to work.
Rating:
DeceptiveSummary: Jaemin deceive. Bamho and Yoochun play checkers.
What I Think: The summary makes it sound like more of a humor fic or something, but it's really not. The set-up is really sweet, and Changmin's little writing pieces are really beautiful.
Rating:
Drive My SoulSummary: loosely inspired by jaejoong's DUI incident back in 2006
What I Think: I dunno, I just like fics based on actual incidents the boys have been through. It's just kind of a sweet story with Min comforting Jae.
Rating:
Endless SummerSummary: It's the summer before the boys debut - a glance into moments between Jae and Min throughout that summer.
What I Think: This story leaves me with a slightly bittersweet feeling, but it's really beautifully written.
Rating:
Four Ways to Get Food Out of Jaejoong (and one way to feed him, or try to...)Summary: Title's pretty self-explanatory...
What I Think: Five super-adorable scenes. Not so much a romantic relationship here, but that's okay. The JaeMin are cute this way, too.
Rating:
I Know. I Love You, Too.Summary: It's the first concert the boys have had as five since the beginning of the lawsuit. It's the reunion that catches everyone's attention...and causes a few nosebleeds on the way.
What I Think: Pretty short, but a really emotional piece. If only it could actually work out like this… :D
Rating:
Jesus Christ, That's a Pretty FaceSummary: They meet, but he's taken.
What I Think: Really pretty. I generally like seeing Min as the vulnerable one, but it's definitely nice to have a change of pace every once in a while.
Rating:
Let Night LaySummary: Sometimes it takes more than one liftetime to find the one you truly love. The thread of soulmates is controlled by a dispassionate Fate.
What I Think: The progression of this fic is really amazing, and the different lifetimes just flow really well.
Rating:
Love at First TouchSummary: Changmin and Jaejoong show their affections a little different than the others.
What I Think: One-touch as foreplay? Yes, please. :D So, not necessarily a super-original idea, but the style of the fic and the interactions between the characters makes it really fun to read.
Rating:
Love GameSummary: Rushing in and attacking until you give up is the Love Game. But who's the winner?
What I Think: I really love the way the story is essentially told through the ups and downs in their one-touches. And Yoochun really just wins all over the place in this one.
Rating:
Obsession (You are Mine.)Summary: One day, Changmin will learn not to answer the phone at three in the morning because it'll only ever be Jaejoong, and Jaejoong will only ever want to drive him insane.
What I Think: It's… almost like fluff, but it makes my heart hurt. Pain in the best way possible, really.
Rating:
Reverse PsychologySummary: Changmin schemes.
What I Think: Manipulative Changmin is cuuuuuuute...
Rating:
Safe in Your ArmsSummary: Changmin is terrified of storms...
What I Think: Scared Min = adorable Min. And then there's cuddling.
Rating:
Shadows of the NightSummary: Changmin doesn't think that this can work between them. Not in the long run.
What I Think: I really like the fact that this is a small glimpse into a more realistic representation of their relationship. It's an acknowledgment that getting together is only the first step.
Rating:
SkittishSummary: Teenage AU. Supposed to make you go 'aww.' I stare at Yoochun as he paints this picture for me. I narrow my eyes at him. "Have you been reading my LiveJournal?" I ask incredulously.
What I Think: Jae's plan for running away to Antarctica? Pretty much makes this fic. Hilarious.
Rating:
Sunshine: We Suck Young BloodSummary: Kim Jaejoong, twenty-one years old. Hunter. Shim Changmin, two hundred and eighteen. Vampire. Two destinies ultimately intertwined.
What I Think: It's like Romeo and Juliet. Except, y'know, two guys. And vampires. And it's just... epic, really. Or as epic as a one-shot can get.
Rating:
The Best ComfortSummary: In which Changmin realizes exactly what the best kind of comfort is.
What I Think: I will admit that I wonder a lot how much the criticism and constantly getting edited out of shows and such really affects Min, and I like to think that this is exactly what happens when it gets too much for him.
Rating:
UndoneSummary: Sometimes we put up walls. Not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to knock them down.
What I Think: The formatting is really intriguing. I, personally, read it by alternating back and forth between the two, but you can read through each POV separately also. It's a really amazing way to get both sides of the story, and I really love the direction the authors take the characterizations.
Rating:
UntitledSummary: Inspired by the J-Rising Sun MV, and includes: kneeangst!jae scarily-spacey-yet-perceptive!min ™ Tokyo holiday banjun, and a smidge of mommahen!yun.
What I Think: I like that it's not Min blatantly cooing over/helping Jae. It's just a very subtle, sweet moment.
Rating:
We Are Collapsed in the Act of Just Being HereSummary: Changmin goes digging around in places he shouldn't.
What I Think: So, obviously, not a whole lot of smut in my rec list. Generally, smut is smut is smut. Every once in a while, though, I find one like this. Yes, it's a little bit of smut. But I just love how their relationship is represented, and every interaction between them is just great.
Rating:
YongwonhiSummary: Don't be like that. We all know you like men.
I like men all right. Just don't like your ugly face.
What I Think: Short but really, REALLY sweet. One of those that makes you hope this is how things are actually going between them.
Rating:
You Know... Like ThatSummary: Jae Joong understands it's love when he gets that feeling.
What I Think: I just love Jae's voice in this piece. Super-cute.
