Mmmm, the Fringe.

Today has been an awesome day. Went over to Edinburgh cos we had tickets for a free show in the Underbelly on the Cow Gate. The show was a showcase of some of the best fresh stand-up talent from the Fringe, and all the comedians were ace, but the headline act - a London comedian who I shockingly can't remember the name of - had me CRYING with ( Read more... )

Sounds like a lovely day!

And on the rant bit - Do you really think a warning on planes will help? Most of these Japanese tourists probably don't even speak a word English. ;)

They'd warn them in their own language. If airlines can have the safety instructions bit in English and Japanese, they can add a little warning about Edinburgh Pace on the end in both English and Japanese, just for Fringe time. Cos SERIOUSLY, they drive me mental. It's that or they ban all foreigners who aren't visiting a Scottish person from being in the city centre. >_<

Haha, I was about to say 'what about me!' but you covered that up pretty nice. ;)

I like to think that even when I am touristy I'm not really annoying though, haha.

I wasn't covering it up. Ask my sis, I was telling her earlier that people who visit Scots a) have a guide who knows the deal and b) and actual reason to be in the country, so they would be allowed whilst actually tourists with big cameras and stupid shirts could fuck right off.

You're not a tourist here, cos you have me. :p And you know how to take more than 2 steps forwards per minute.

I've always been really into stand-up comedy. I think it's possibly the best comedy style hat exists. So witty and it's great how some of the stuff is clearly improvised. Too bad I haven't actually seen anything live...

I suppose I'm lucky in that I live so close to Edinburgh that access to the huge amounts of stand up comedy at the Fringe Festival every August is easy. Stand-up is wonderful though. I love the idea of people just being on a stage telling funny stories. It shows the beauty of simple storytelling to me.
