Whew!

Mar 17, 2012 20:10

I've had an extremely busy week; in addition to trying to keep up with my B2MEM prompts, and feeling rather like a hamster on a wheel over them, we have been painting our bedroom and hanging new curtains in both the bedroom and living room. (Perhaps tomorrow or Monday I can take and post some pics.) Yesterday we ran like crazy with errands that ( Read more... )

PB&J - I LOVE it!!!! We've been known to do that sort of free deal and donate it thing in our family - it's a good feeling.

We've had a wave of these promotions lately. One week the store did bread, another week cookies, and then the butter-- then we skipped a week and did it again. I don't know how long they will last, but the customers get to counting on that freebie! And for the bread one, I talked several people into taking their bread (when they didn't want it by the end of the week! Extra bread is even harder to find room for in the freezer than butter, LOL! But I'd tell them "Why not take it and give it away? I'm sure you know someone who'd need it?" And a few times, I took mine, and then just gave it to someone in line behind me, who was maybe just getting milk or something. But it wasn't till this week that I thought of PB&J!)

I hope they keep the promo going awhile-- I've spread the news among other church members who patronize Braums, so donations may go up!

There's a bit undercurrent of racism (both conscious and the more insidious, unconscious)when it comes to the particularly vicious brand of nastiness that some people have toward the president. It's really depressing in this day and age. Again, of course not everyone is going to like every president. Lord knows, I had my whole list of Bush jokes and nasty comments when that was going on, but yes, you respect the office. That's how I've always felt!

You've been writing up a storm -- go you!

Oh, I KNOW that racism is the elephant in the room that no one wants to acknowledge when it comes to the President. I think the attitude of certain people is "Well, a black got elected. What more does he want? Co-operation? Forget it."

I skirted the line at work today (I try not to talk politics that might tick off the customers) when this one lady said that in her opinion he was just out to deliberately ruin the country.

I asked her didn't she think there were easier ways to do it than to take on a job that is such a hassle as President. After all, you actually have to be dedicated to even WANT a job where half the people hate you, some people want to kill you, and a good many people dedicate themselves to making it impossible for you to do your job?

Thinking like hers just makes me completely confused! So many people say things like that without considering the logic of what they say.

I love the "PB&J" acronym. I hope everything goes well with the President's visit. I'd love to see him in person.

I'll be so sorry when Mark is done, but then there'll be the movies to enjoy, when he gets around to watching them.

Good luck keeping up with B2MeM. I know that gasping, running on the hamster wheel feeling!

I know! But "Grey Havens" already???? *sigh*

And it will be fun to see his reactions to the movie. Although I will miss his liveblog of the animated Hobbit next weekend-- I will be at the library, where we will celebrate Tolkien Reading Day with reading of TH!

Oh my! What wonderful news! Well, I sure think it is! I'm afraid most people in some parts of the country are too busy listening to propaganda from his opponents than to actually looking at what he's done. I read some statistics from MS and AL the other day about the outright lies that people believed about the president that it made me a little ill. If people listen to nothing but lies, what are they supposed to believe?

And isn't that wonderful about the butter! Bravo to you for thinking of such a wonderful way to be generous. (((((HUGS))))

It ASTOUNDS me what sort of malarkey certain otherwise intelligent people will swallow when it comes to the President! *shudder*

Rupert Murdoch has a lot to answer for in THIS country as well...

I was so excited when I had four I could donate and still have the same number to keep-- and then I had the customers who gave me theirs to donate for them!
