It's all about money. Also known as the Jesse Jackson Hustle (threaten a lawsuit to get a hefty donation for their organization).

This really bothers me as a parent. We always take April to McDonald's, but we've always gotten her the chicken nugget or hamburger meal with the apples and juice or milk. How is that even unhealthy? McDonald's makes it perfectly simple to give your kids healthy meals. Also, we use the toy as an incentive for April to finish her meal (my parents always did the same thing). We don't let her have the toy until she has put in sufficient effort in eating her lunch/dinner. For those parents that give their kids the toys right away, I would think that it would actually be more preventative of overeating as the kids are too distracted by the toy to eat at all! Some things are just so dumb!

Also, McDonald's has been putting healthier things on the menu. Get your kid some apple slices instead of fries! No soda! Etc., etc. The toy is seriously not to blame here. This is ridiculous.
