CSPI to Sue McDonald's

One of the problems that I have with Progressives is that they don't understand the concept of personal responsibility. Take the latest lawsuit from the Center for Science in the Public Interest as a great example. They're threatening to sue McDonald's if they don't stop including toys in their kid meals, claiming that it's "unfair, deceptive, and illegal". If it were illegal to include toys in kids meals, McDonald's wouldn't have been able to do it for the past 30 years.

McDonald's restaurants aren't to blame for the current trend in child obesity. Parents need to learn to say NO and if they do take their kids to a fast food restaurant, they need to learn to make healthy choices for their kids, since the parents are the ones who order and pay for the food. For example, if their child wants the toy but parents want to encourage healthy eating, they can buy the toy separately at most (if not all) McDonald's restaurants. Burger King has the same system. How hard is it to split a salad and McNuggets with your child and give them the toy on the side?

Targeting large corporations because of the bad choices that parents make for their children is stupid, and a waste of time and money. Instead of suing McDonald's, the CSPI could use the money they would have spent on the lawsuit for a campaign geared at teaching parents and families healthy eating habits when they go out to eat.

food, business, lawsuit, money
